Konica Minolta Bizhub C550i: Red Lines down copies

    [Misc] Konica Minolta Bizhub C550i: Red Lines down copies

    Hello Community, nice to meet you all! Thank you for your assistance in advance.

    I have an unusual issue here. Brand new out of box C550i. Scans, fax, copies, prints all work.

    Except when copying an invoice. The client is a fairly large shipper. They print these invoices and sometimes make additional copies. When they make a copy on a HP PageWide, no issue, but when they make a copy on the Konica Minolta uniformed red lines appear vertically down the page. Almost like a security issue or something in place to stop forgery.

    Just to repeat myself -this doesn't happen on all copies- only their invoices for the warehouse to prepare the orders to go out.

    I've contacted Konica and they said it was not an anti-forgery software but wouldn't talk to me anymore unless I signed a contract with them.

    For the safety of the company I'll share a picture of part of the paper but it is happening from top to bottom.

      yup, looks like out of the box without following the initial operation procedure written on a booklet that comes with the box as well
      or better known as the infamous Lines Of Shame.

      it needs a do-over.

        I didn't ask. Printer was purchased at an auction brand new in box, unopened, and we deployed it. Its not an option on the table to get a service package.
        I'll google lines of shame, I haven't been able to find anything on this specific issue. Happens to no other copies but invoices. Tried using a post-it note over different parts of the page to see if something was setting security software off and it always prints those lines on these invoices.

          Enter CE mode then stop and 3 and set the date and time zone, next,next, service,exit,restart. Done. Buy me a beer. Well done.

            yes, that is the down and dirty way however it is a good idea to follow the setup instructions initially.
            We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

              Doubt "lines of shame" will come up on a google search. Just do as the other posters wrote and do the initial setup procedure.

              I think the contract you posted they wanted you to sign was for a service contract?

                  The "Lines of Shame" only show their ugly heads when you make a copy of a page in COLOR. The default copy mode is set to Auto Detect, so if the other items you are copying are determined by the copier to be B&W, you won't see the colored lines show up on those copies.

                  You can either do what tsbservice suggests, which will get rid of those lines, or you can find the "Installation Instructions" that came in the box with the copier. They will have come in a plastic bag along with the manual, ADF calibration sheet, and the rest of the paperwork. Follow the instructions in the Installation manual and this will at least insure that the machine will be functioning properly.
                  A Ricoh Service Tech for 7 year. A Konica Minolta Service Tech for 7 years. Now, KM service manager for 4 years.
                  My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...

                      As this was a new 'out of the box' device it should have come with the installation manual ?

                      Follow this without skipping ANY steps.

                      If you simply plug the device in & don't follow this procedure you get thin coloured lines on the prints when copying from the main glass (not document feeder)

                        I was able to fix the device with your assistance.

                        Here is a quick easy way to explain it for future user looking for the solutions:

                        Cause:

                        The "Lines of Shame" only show their ugly heads when you make a copy of a page in COLOR. The default copy mode is set to Auto Detect, so if the other items you are copying are determined by the copier to be B&W, you won't see the colored lines show up on those copies.



                        The fix:
                        1. Factory reset the device and follow the set up instructions to the T. Skip no steps. [Set date and Time regardless if printer auto connects to NTP server and shows correct]

                        or

                        2. Down and Dirty quick fix

                        Go to CE mode-
                        For CE mode go to [counter screen] then [display details].
                        Press Stop 0 0 stop 0 1.
                        The CE password is 9272 four times: 9272-9272-9272-9272
                        set the date and time zone> next>next> service>exit>restart the device
