    C1060 with code C-2821

    Hi folks

    I can't seem to clear a C1060 of code C-2821.

The printer will print a thousand copies or so, then I'm guessing when it does an auto adjustment, it will code out to C-2821. Restarting doesn't help. If I turn the printer off and turn it back on 6 hours or so later, the code will be gone, but again after a thousand prints or so, the code will return.

I've removed the IDCS and gave it a good cleaning, replaced the developer unit and developer, cleaned the dust proof lens but just can't get figure this out. If I go into test mode and print pattern 53 with yellow at 255, it gives a nice clean solid yellow sheet even when the code is present.

    Any tips would be appreciated.

Haven't worked on one for a while, but i remember having a few issues with the IDCS assy which would be have to be replaced.

Also could be Transfer belt or drum what do they physically look like?

The main factors in the C-2821 code are:
*yellow developing (I think you've covered that)
*patch sensors (I've seen toner get inside the sensor lens-patch sensor must be replaced, or the shutter doesn't open completely)
*condition of the transfer belt (the primary transfer belt will become dull/not glossy with wear, also check the life on the primary charge rollers)

      =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Ensure that the shutter is operating properly. As a test, you can tape the shutter open and see if the code returns. If it does, replace the IDC sensor (the one in the middle). Cleaning won't always work.

Also make sure the transfer belt is in good shape and the cleaning blade isn't leaving streaks.

I will try the transfer belt. Could you please confirm which parts the primary charge rollers are? I couldn't find reference to them in the manual or parts catalog.

            A50U500101 Primary Transfer Belt Only
            A50UR70655 Primary Transfer Cleaning Assembly
            (4) A50U501201 Primary Transfer Roller(s)

There have been a number of updates to the belt. As long as the first 8-digits a correct, it will fit. The last two digits indicate the revision. =^..^=

Anytime I replace transfer belt and 1st transfer rollers I also replace the upper 2nd transfer roller inside the belt A50U500401 and the lower 2nd transfer roller unit that is in the machine just before fuser A50UR70500. It wouldn't cause your error but I would at least replace the upper 2nd transfer roller while you had the belt off .
I would also try running the yellow test print at 128 density to see what the half tone looks like

Thank you for everyone's help so far. I've ordered parts and will start troubleshooting once they arrive.

In the meanwhile, is there anyway to force the printer to skip trying to do gamma auto adjustment. It seems to be coding out when it tries that at start up. Previously, as stated, the 5-6 hour break would let the printer start up normal, but as of yesterday its been coding out no matter how long I let the printer sit turned off.

It would be pointless. The image quality will be unusable. =^..^=
