Can you boot without the hdd? If so, disable DNS in Network settings. For some reason i found a documentation about this issue in our DMS and it seems like the problem jus voided, either over time or after the customer recieved a new network and someone who did not know about the hdd issue had tried to reinstall it lol

have you tried a data initialization or formatting the ssd? not the hdd, the ssd?

Try network initialization and change network speed. Clutching at straws....

Already initialised network.... This freezes without been connected to a network so there are no network handshakes....

Yes it powers up fine with HDD set to not installed.... I can disable DNS settings but it happens when disconnected from the network too.

Have you tried the NVRam reset tool ?

I use this as a last resort but does resolve / fix various random issue.

It will still load up the ip settings so incase you connect it to a network later on it will instantly be avaiable to print and scan in that network.

Hi all

I went to a C224e recently that the display would freeze after power up. You would see the usual 'Preparing User Box' etc with the control panel amber LED flashing. Then it would just freeze. No buttons would work on the control panel.

I removed the HDD and the machine would get to the point where I could get into service mode and deselect the HDD as not installed, cycle the power and the machine would come ready - no freezing....

So I went back into service mode, set the HDD to installed, powered down the printer, fit a new 320GB (although the one removed was 250GB) HDD, power back on and formatted the HDD. The printer would then freeze! I have then tried another 320gb HDD and a 250GB and the issue remains.

Having had freezing issues before, I decided to replace the SSD PCB. Reflash firmware (M1) but it keeps freezing after power up.

The machine works however with only the 2GB memory DIMM so scanning is an issue due to the size of documents etc. Also, I am unable to access the web interface despite doing a clear all data, making sure PSWC is set to on etc.

I have also run a self diagnostics test and all items pass.....

I am currently in the process of the 'Detail Check' of the memory in state confirmation of service mode. It is currently getting to 90% then starting over and over.. Maybe I miss it getting to 100%, I will keep watching it......

I have a memory dimm on order so will try that and see where I am but if not, I can only assume the MFP board is next?

Has anyone else experienced this?

the first run of e series had issues with hdd ground to frame. static will build up and discharge through the sata cable taking out mfp. does your hdd holder have the little grounding springs on the hdd bracket?

Hi, good to. know!.......It has 1 spring which seems to touch the inside of the rear cover?

I believe it may be sorted following a initialisation using the reset tool but going to make sure before I jinx myself!

i should have 1 on the bracket to frame and 4 on the bracket to hdd . i was installing an auxiliary hard ground from hdd to frame.

So an update on this one!

The reset tool worked a treat and had the printer working for 2 days so returned it to customer.

1 week later - frozen!

On the main board, there is a fan which I noticed never came on and I am wondering if the CPU is overheating and then causing the issue....

Has anyone seen said fan actually running?
