Re: Bizhub C224e: Problem with printing cyan
yes I have done that method too, remove toner filter on other model and blow out with can compressed air.

Re: Bizhub C224e: Problem with printing cyan
The cyan air vacuum duct does not work as well as for magenta yellow or black on the 55ppm and lower 4 series machines. Design issue I would think. On ever call I remove the cyan drum and clean off the charge assembly with a brush and a syringe bulb to blow out loose toner. Cleaning the toner filter also helps, that is if that model come with one. The toner on the charge assembly will cause all kinds of issues including drawing the developer out of the dev tank. Every 200K prints or so I remove the developer tank and clean out the dusting suction ducts then I use a long pipe attachment I made for this task to clear out the suction port entrances that gets clogged.
Easy enough to just top the developer up again.Leave a comment:

Re: Bizhub C224e: Problem with printing cyan
Thanks for all the tips (and congrats on the new job)
Guess I'll try to refill the depleted developer unit and replace the drum.
Is there any way to confirm that it is actually the drum unit that is draining the developer?
Thanks in advanceLeave a comment:

Thanks my friend. Same sentiment here. Guys that appreciate that extra step is hard to come by these days.

Re: Bizhub C224e: Problem with printing cyan
Definite DV unit depletion, as well as replacing cyan DV unit, possibly the drum too as previously stated, any units over life need replacing - but you may also have to reduce the TCR level for cyan by 1, so go from 0 to -1. if the problem reoccurs, then go down to -2, you can go as far as -3. it's under Image Processing AdjustmentLeave a comment:

Originally posted by allanOn all the 4 series machines (55PPM and lower) there is a design issue with the air suction duct that vacuums out toner dusting due to normal operation. This is only the case with Cyan. Toner dust gets onto the charge corona unit leading to all kinds of trouble. On every service call I do on these 4 series machines I remove the Cyan drum and clean the charge unit with a brush and air that and cleaning the toner filter if that model has one. Every 200K prints I would recommend removing the cyan developer unit and use a long pipe attachment for your toner vacuum to suck out all the toner from the entrance to the duct.
Hey allan, I did Toshy 20 years ago with some great colleagues we were 'dream team' and we are still friends.
Nothing could stop us. If a was to choose 5 techs for second 'dream team' you will be instant choiceLeave a comment:

Re: Bizhub C224e: Problem with printing cyan
Agree the OP's photo shows a classic example of depleated developer. But the reason it depleated has to be addressed and that is usually an over life drum. That is the point I was trying to make.Leave a comment:

Re: Bizhub C224e: Problem with printing cyan
Repeat... you do NOT have to replace complete DV unit at $500 each! Just buy a bag of aftermarket cyan developer for $30, add around half a bag using a funnel while turning gear on end.
I do recommend using "genuine" toners in all the Kon/Min color models.Leave a comment:

Re: Bizhub C224e: Problem with printing cyan
This is 100% correct, we see this multiple times per month.
You need to replace the DV-512C cyan developer unit part number A2XN0KD
