[Misc] C364e reboots when trying to make a copy

    Hi All,

Found this forum as I was searching for issue on my copy machine.

c364e boots up to the home screen without issues. When I try to make a copy it freezes and than reboots itself. I can access administrative mode and service mode. I ran health checks in service mode and all are good. I am at loss as to what can cause this issue. Possibly firmware?
Any assistance would be much appreciated as I am very new to this.

this sounds like a shorted or locked motor. I would look at the service manual sequence of ops and try to match when it reboots to a given event.

Is any message displayed before it re-boots, like "internal error", etc? Are any service codes in history? What about the memory battery on MFP board, does it mesaure 3V?

Go in service mode and disable HDD, then try operating machine. Measure battery as others said. If it's only when copying follow Albonline advice.

Some additional information after more troubleshooting. in Service mode I can print test prints , although the toner peeling at some spots for some reason and sticking to the back of the paper on other prints.
There are no error massages displayed but when look into history I see "E301". I will check the 3v battery next and will let you know what it is reading.

Thank you so much for your input.

As you can do internal prints OK, try updating the firmware & function version.

How to best check the fusing unit if it operates correctly? What do you mean stop machine while printing?

Yes we can supply the firmware if you wanted to give that a try.

I tried to disable the HDD but still same problem persisted, ran HDD check and results showed it is ok. Just thought I would try something else and removed HDD and checked it with my computer to see if it has files or anything in it. But HDD was not even recognized by my computer and would not even show up. Decided to install an hdd that I had handy on the copy machine it was 1tb but that is all I had. Did the formats and copy machine came back to life! Now I can make copies. It seem to operate good. Now has a massage "No Animation Guide available. Contact your service rep." Does that mean I need to now install firmware and animation?

I now also see another issue there are white stripes on Magenta color. I found some forum suggesting that it may be drum causing it so I swapped the magenta and yellow. But the stripe still persists. Any ideas?

Thank you all for your help that means a lot to me.

I went to your web site to see for the firmware. But it is more than I can pay for it especially since I am not making any money on the machine and it is already costing me. I understand that you have to make the living. Is there a cheaper option?

I skimmed through the previous posts, but didn't see any mention of you having cleaned the laser glass. Since you swapped drums and it still remained, and based on your sample, that looks exactly like toner or something on the laser glass. It sounds like you are an end user and not a tech, so what you need to do is remove the waste toner box (inside the front access door) carefully, don't spill it! Attached to the inside of the access door is a grey colored wand with a white cleaning pad attached to it. Under each of the drums you will see a rectangular hole with light blue stickers under them. Slide the cloth end of the wand in and out of the hole under each of the drums a couple times and those void lines should go away.

My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...

Side note on magic wand. This was my eternal fear that felt on top of wand of used 5-7 or more years is dirty and seems to be falling apart from stick. It did it indeed a few days ago when felt peel of stick when I was doing PH cleaning.
Lucky me it was close to the damn hole end so with needles can be picked. But boy do I feel stupid
Thankfully on i series some engineer moved wand up from WTB mess. But generally felts are for trash bin after some years soiled with toner.
