    IC-418 "FF" after running updates

    Evening, all.

As stated, I had 6 or 7 updates for my Fiery controller for a bizhub C659. I decided to go ahead and install them, but when the controller rebooted it went to a "FF" fault. I can ping it, but cannot communicate with it via command workstation or the web ui. I know the FF fault generally means an issue with the motherboard or cpu, but since it happened at an odd time I'm going to reinstall the software in the morning with a USB drive, and double-check all the connections. If anyone has any other ideas on what I should check for, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would replaced the HDD with a SSD. Fiery will boot and run much faster. Plus with that error you could have a bad HDD . I believe this fiery takes a 500gb hdd, you can get a 500gb SDD for $40.00 us .

Did you ever solve your issue? I have exactly the same Fiery and did exactly the same updates and ended up with exactly the same issue. Fiery controller won't go past "FF". It was working just fine before applying the patches. I actually applied one and rebooted. And it still worked fine ("OO"). But then I applied all the rest at once. I wonder if that was a mistake? Would appreciate any help...

If you loaded them manually then you need to read the instructions for each update. Some are exclusive updates and cant be loaded with ant other update. there are sometimes other information about the update. If you allow command workstation to do the update it will load them in the correct order. just know the fiery could possibly reboot several times depending how many updates there are. Just be patient , I would start the update process in command workstation at end of day and let it run overnight. Even on the new fiery's they are super slow about booting. I've had the new fiery's take as long as 25 minutes on first boot up. When working with fiery's pack your patience's

I wonder if I messed up the processing by manually rebooting before it was finished. At this point I can no longer connect to the controller through Command Workstation or through the device (KM C659) it is attached to. I left it for 36 hours. When I went in this morning it was still reading FF. I tried rebooting manually a couple of times, even disconnecting the power supply. Still locked out of the Fiery. What do I do next? Do I need to reload the operating system?

I would replace HDD with a SSD and reload. Just make sure your SSD is the same capacity as the HDD

Thank you so much Synthenol and Markks for your valuable input and system reload instructions. This machine didn't come with a DVD. Can you help me find the USB helper tool and system and user software (ver 2.0/3.0?)? I plan to do as you suggested and replace the HD with an SSD. Also, is it possible to create the install USB on a Linux or Mac? I am trying to move away from Windows...

Ok, Windows 7 it is. Is there a download site for the software I need? Also, does anyone know the recommended OS version for the 418?
