when you install the mt501 did you install the little wire jumper behind the inside cover. You must also loosen the screw and slide the lever on the finisher. The lever is the one between the trays near where the tray mounts are located.

Nope, There is a little jumper that goes behind the inside cover of the finisher near the jam knobs. If you take that cover off you will see a connector that should have a 2 pin jumper plugged into it. if its not there make one and try it.

According to my MT501 install manual the jumper is not used on this option. It does req the upper finisher tray holders to be moved down one position and a nip off of the front holder b4 reinstalling it and of course moving the sliding screw thingy (tech term!) to the front!

          Regards!

on the mailbin there is a green lever that the client moves if there is a paper jam. This guide actuates the the little black levers on the vertical part of the finisher, which are also activated by the exit trays. Check to make sure that the guide is actuating the sensors. Have had to build up the edge of the plate on three setups.....hope you understand ....
