KM series OAuth2 for SMTP - google, microsoft etc. September is coming!

Recap - Google will require OAuth2 to use SMTP for scan to email starting Sept 30 2024 (actually the ability to set it up goes away June 15, any any existing setup using the less secure app / app password options will stop working end of Sept). google's info on this . KM released special firmware GP4-Q6 for i-series end of 2023. I'm finding very little technical detail from mykm login. Only an article from 2022 about OAuth/POP and the Program Release Information that accompanied the GP4 firmware.

    Questions:
    1) Anyone hear any plans to enable OAuth2 for SMTP for other systems? 8 series? 4e? (4e is a long shot I know, but 8-series??)
    2) There is a maintenance release for i-series G00-RB (Mar '24) that has a lot of stuff in it. No mention of OAuth but plenty about TLS etc... in the past I found KM will oft include special firmware features in the next maintenance release and mention nothing about it in the docs. Anyone try this version with OAuth, and was it successful?
    3) What is the microsoft side of this? Am I correct in understanding that OAuth has been required for SMTP to cloud outlook/teams emails since Jan 1 2023? But there are workarounds being used?
    4) Finally, this seems like a big deal, curious why there is little talk about it on this forum. Am I missing something? Seems like at least 10% of our customers will be affected by this and do not yet have i-series machines.

    Thanks all for your input!

Oops I forgot there was a newsletter saying OAuth/SMTP will come in an i-series (and i1) maintenance release soon, so I think we can assume G00-RB is not going to work, will wait for the next maintenance release. Other questions still hoping for an answer tho!

      App passwords will still work.

Maybe i'm reading it wrong, but there was a link on here recently, it appears that basic SMTP Authentication is being turned off September 2025, not September 2024

This microsoft article says the same thing - first it says Basic Authentication is already off, then contradicts itself saying basic SMTP authentication will continue until Sept 2025. Sigh. I gather that is the case.

would the machines need to be configured to use APP Passwords and all will work fine when they disable basic SMTP authentication? (hopefully reading that right!)
