If it reboots every 5 seconds (two shark fins) then it's the SSD. If it boots up completely, lets you make a few copies, but never completes "Preparing User Box" and "Preparing Scan Box" initialize, then reboots, then it's the HDD. I've seen both situations. =^..^=

Re: E series rebooting problem. Who's dealing with it?

    Hello All -

I am Network Admin and we use Konica. 14 machines, 3 having issues. I ran around the office at one location and the 4 here are not the E series. The 3 having issues are:

    554e
    224e
    364e

After reading this thread, should I assume it's the machine? The machines lockup in the middle of the day and has an error:

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

After it reboots, the machine locks up. If you reboot the machine manually with the network cable unplugged, it works. If you plug in the network cable, it locks up the machine. Konica techs are blaming the network, which is fine, but they cannot show proof. They tell me that someone is sending a large file or a computer has a bad printer driver. I went to each machine for one copier and updated all drivers...not fixed. I just want this fixed as staff is yelling at me. To my knowledge, RAM, HD, MFP has NOT been replaced. I do not have access to bulletins or anything that a tech would have. Any help for pointing them in the right direction?

    Thanks

We ran around like mad men when the SSD fix was released. Avoided all of the above. So don't know what there is to complain about the machines work ok.

I presume the SSD is on ver.6.05m

Have you got the the machine on Function 7 (ssw25 HEX 60)?

Is the Fiery and the driver on latest software?

Do you have the fiery and machine on separate network ports?

I have a C754e (with built-in fiery) that the customer claimed stopped printing in the middle of a job. When they arrived this morning they still couldn't print until they were instructed how to reset the fiery.

Once I arrived I turned off the Sleep Mode settings and set the Low Power Mode from 10 to 60 minutes. Unfortunately, the service manual simply says it is a Rank C error and lists a bunch of boards that might be involved.

Could the sleep mode setting affect middle-of-job printing?

It has the latest firmware (G00-K5).

Update - After reading back through some of the later postings, I have made the change in the Software Switch 157 and Low Power Mode settings, and turned off the Weekly Timer. I guess we'll wait and see...

Just an FYI...with the release of the new C8 firmware, it is imperative that you don't leave anything out, perform the SSD board update, C8 install, put the MFP in maintenance version 05, and update drivers (including AU/TWAIN if needed) to 4.1.0.0. If you leave anything out you will be back for other codes (Ce301 for a start) and driver communication issues. You can use the 4.1.0.0 drivers on non updated MFPs. I have guys doing 1 or 2 out of three (I know, 2 out of e ain't bad) and it's causing many problems. Emujo

Touch Panel adjustment and a few other settings were eliminated in the newer FW to speed up the installation process. Apparently KM doesn't think we will ever have to re-adjust their operation panels.

That message that you are seeing when entering into administrator mode about "Yes" No or decide later, has something to do with the KMBS debugging feature.

From what I've heard. The SSDB issue has something to do with a very large batch of SSDB's that don't have enough dedicated memory for processing.....With all the "e" enhancements they came out with, apparently this batch has a flaw and cannot keep up....

I saw a bulletin that said in c8 firmware that the screen calibration function was removed altogether.

Update: My cust hasn't called back (yet) about further freezing. Have not (yet) had to apply the dip sw setting mentioned earlier. (Was awaiting a reoccurrence of freezing, if it happened again).

Never saw a nag screen either when I did ours to c8 and it has dual fax boards as well. Odd!

    Regards!

After doing firmware as described in this bulletin, when entering admin mode you are greeted with a nag screen asking if you want to enable the sending of machine error reports. The options are Yes, No, & Decide Later? Not knowing exactly what this is I have been choosing Decide Later. Does anyone know what this feature is? Also the screen calibration is either moved or no longer available? Does anyone know where it moved too?

Awesome! Making a note about this on my phone. I will try that. Thanks much!

If I may ask, what does soft sw 157 do? I couldnt locate it in my service manual or in the notes on the C8 firmware release?

Firmware is @ g00-c8 already and ssd is @ 6.03.

    Regards! A!

    I agree..

I think they reimburse for some labor and parts cost. It wasn't a lot of money in the scheme of things.

I wonder if it was a batch of crappy boards from the supplier? Maybe they changed suppliers or discovered a "fix" to correct it?

There's a bulletin on the knowledge base about Firmware GC3-A9, correcting this (Yes i know its the prior version to c8)... Anyone have any thoughts on this short of shutting off sleep mode? (it also has 2 fax boards as well) I will shut off sleep mode if I have to though (I don't think this customer will have a problem with it) All of my other C224e-364e series machines have A9 or older firmware.... not a peep.
