I never turned it on (the weekly timer). Is it set to on by default cuz none of my other e series have done this (yet)! Thanks for the input!

    regards!

    A!

Machine has only been on site a week, if that!!

There's a bulletin on the knowledge base about Firmware GC3-A9, correcting this (Yes i know its the prior version to c8)... Anyone have any thoughts on this short of shutting off sleep mode? (it also has 2 fax boards as well) I will shut off sleep mode if I have to though (I don't think this customer will have a problem with it) All of my other C224e-364e series machines have A9 or older firmware.... not a peep.

Did you turn off the weektimer? (ErP)

One can only assume you are right with shoddy translations like these: "Note: Once symptom appear, this SSD FW will not effective but SSD board needs to be replaced."

I would try it anyway--how does reprogramming something (flashing the firmware) only work as a preventative measure? Unless it prevents the board from burning itself out physically, this makes no sense to me.

Maybe start with early versions of base firmware and sequentially upgrade to most current then this firmware?

Speaking of base firmwares: Why is this "SSD_Board_Tool" in the base firmware section. Is it not a special firmware? I mean the latest base firmware--A5C10Y0-F000-G00-C8--does not have the fix that "SSD_Board_Tool" therefore rendering it "special."

While I am nitpicking, the webmasters for mykonicaminolta.com should be stabbed in the eye with a soldering iron.

Out of curiosity, does Konica have a FOC program setup for this then? If they don't, they should.

The issue and the fix is only on the machine side, this problem appear to the equipments without fiery too. Also, from what I understood from the tech bulletin, the fix won't work if the problem already appeared, it's more like a preventing tool..

Out of curiosity, it looks like the fix is a firmware update... it is fixing something on the printer "side" or the Fiery "side" ... that is, is this a Fiery issue? The reason I ask is because when I see the reboot, I see the printer rebooting but the Fiery doesn't appear to be rebooting... I don't actually lose connectivity to my Fiery when I have Command Workstation running on my computer. [In fact, that is usually how the problem manifests itself... one of us initiates a print job from Command Workstation, and then we hear the beeps-of-death from the printer as it reboots; meanwhile, on the Command Workstation screen we see a red error bar showing the print job failed, but as soon as the printer comes back online the red bar disappears and then we can initiate the print job again without having to re-connect to the Fiery]

Very strange issue, very annoying, I will be happy when my tech applies the fix :-)

Don't forget that this bulletin has been revised about half a dozen times in the past month. Check for the latest version.

Not a tech (and I didn't play one on TV)... but we are still seeing this every. single. day. Sometimes multiple times per day if the printer goes into sleep mode. Our techs want to attribute it to some sort of electrical line problem. But I have 4 other printers on the same circuit, 1 of which also has a Fiery (Ricoh), and none of them exhibit any rebooting issues.

It doesn't happen if we walk up to do copies, only when we print through the Fiery.

I haven't tried just printing directly to the unit to see if it happens, I do have the print drivers set up to print directly, I just usually use the Fiery.

It was a penis joke. Those of us with our minds in the gutter, went there straight away.

As far as the topic goes, we updated one machine so far in shop with no issues.

Hmm, I'm feeling like the only tech out there with this ongoing problem at the moment! Thanks for your replies anyway.

As for Weekly timer, I had turned that and Power save off on one particular customer, but they are specialists in energy conservation and picked up on the fact that their machine had stopped going into sleep and demanded it be turned back on. Alas, despite it being on G20-C8, Version 5, SSD FW 6.03, it still doesn't print from sleep until a reboot now that I've had to turn all that back on.

Having a meeting with our area Tech Specialist today so hoping for some answers - I will post up anything I get.
