Hi, this machine has under 70K on the meter, evenly divided between color and B/W. Three different techs have been here, all have been unable to reproduce error onsite. This makes it difficult to replace parts because it is all a shot in the dark. This last happened late in a run of 75 prints. I have run 100 of the same file and have not seen it. I checked the voltage at the wall, electrical ground is good. Has anyone seen this and what worked for you? Thanks!Samples of lines on 3051ci.pdf

Re: Kyocera 3051ci with colored lines (samples included)
I would start by cleaning & lubing the drum grounds in the front toner hopper unit. Blackcat & I have had discussions at length regarding this. He had one that was losing black. Mine was a 3050ci that was losing magenta. That's what yours looks like it's missing to me. It usually happens to the front frame side.Comment

Thanks Tony,
Voids showed up on the grey bar in U089, so I replaced the black developer and it is now working. I will keep your advice in mind if it comes back. Thanks!Comment

Re: Kyocera 3051ci with colored lines (samples included)
My suggestion is to clean an re-grease the drum ground before it depletes another developing unit. My machine was dumping developer such that the symptoms were back within a week. How many developing units would you like to install? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Actually I enlarged it & it looks to me like it's missing cyan out of the samples you posted. Shouldn't have anything to do with the black DV unit.Comment

Interestingly, the CMYK colors do not fade out at equal rates through each streak. Sometimes magenta fades first, sometimes cyan fades first. Since there is no yellow, I can't really evaluate yellow. Black fades the least.
I think cyan may be overtoning, dumping splotches of toner unexpectedly. Maybe it's just the endusers choice of colors, but there are almost no yellow pixels in this document anywhere. If you have a shorting developing bias, it's probably on yellow. Try printing the test document attached. I'll be interested to see how yellow prints.
This sample is from the last page of the PDF document, enlarged to 800%, then ColorPic breakdown of the colors.Attached FilesLast edited by blackcat4866; 10-01-2016, 05:55 PM.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

I have a call to go back to this same machine, don't know if it is the same issue. Just in case how do you clean and lube the drum grounds on the inner unit?
Thanks!Comment

Pull the grey toner hooper unit off the front of the machine. The drum shafts go all the way through the drum & ground inside the bearings. Check bearings & use conductive grease on the shaft ends.Comment

Thanks Tony,
Arrived, ran Black Cats test before doing anything, attaching more recent image samples
Had to use High Compression PDF for Black Cats test, File uploader wouldn't take a 12MB file, though it should be within the limit.

Do you think the drum ground was the cause of the problems ?Comment

Re: Kyocera 3051ci with colored lines (samples included)
Ended up replacing the magenta developer based on the recent image defects. Cleaned the drum grounds, bearings looked good. Did not re-lube as was not sure which grease to use. What do you use for conductive grease Tony? No evidence of image defect today. Will wait and see if problem returns.Comment

So you removed all the grease and left it unlubricated? Does that seem like a good idea?

Re: Kyocera 3051ci with colored lines (samples included)
I didn't remove all the grease, just removed from drum shafts, the inner unit side still had grease on it. I was worried I didn't have the right grease, and was trying to balance conflicting advice between the forum and from co-workers. I looked into it and it seems very few greases are actually conductive, they just protect the connection from oxidization. Some have metal powder in them but sticking an ohmmeter in most greases will show "open circuit". I have lubriplate 930-AA multipurpose grease. This is the article I read. HF Nets in Hawaii
You are right, It should be re-lubed with something. Thanks for the pictures, there are no signs of rust or dumped developer on my machine.Comment
