    M 2040dn making strange noise

Have got a colleague who is getting an intermittent noise from one of these M2040 desktop printers.
He advises me that it appears to come from the rear of the device and once the fuser is changed goes away.
Problem being he has now gone through two fusers and one fuser drive in the space of a month for this issue and it has returned again.
He confirmed that the drum unit was replaced on the first visit for pcq.
I have heard of another one of these models doing the same thing, but never heard back what the fix was.
Has any body had this or any ideas please?

All the noise problems we have seen with these machines has been the fuser or the fuser drive.

new Fk and/ or fuser drive solved the problem for a while.
Without new implemented cooling cycle by FW upgrade it will happen again.

When I have a customer that has a noise problem, I give them a radio and put it on the station they like and turn it up till they can't hear the noise.

If that's not enough, I get two radios.

Try stretching the spring in the fuser drive unit. Or replace the fuser.

Stretching the spring in the fuser drive unit worked for me. At least for now.

We have a few years of info on these fusers with 100 plus machines in our region. Even after applying the firmware we have seen no increase in the life expectancy of the fusers which are typically failing at 30-35k prints. Have there been any real improvements made at the factory to these? It just seems that they are a flawed design.
