CS 8002i Jamming when duplexing

Hi guys and girls,

I've got a Kyocera CS 8002i in the field that has had an on going issue of jamming when in duplex mode. In the past, I've removed the fuser, the switch-back unit, and the job separator unit, and cleaned all the paper path sensors. Usually this does the trick. I've checked the sensors in U031, and all seems to be working properly.

The Jam codes I've seen on the event log points to J64XX DF Exit Sensor, to J42XX Fuser Exit Sensor. I always try to look at the jam location before and after these locations. So far, I've had no luck in exorcising this demon.

Any ideas out there where I might look to resolve this issue?

If you're over 750K most likely the exit sensor is worn flat, like the 8003i, 8002i, 8001i, 8000i, 6551ci, they're all the same. Because the parts take a long time, I do the paperclip trick ... photo?:

For the 64xx finisher jam, look for threads on here. Updating to the new sensor in bulletin H020 seems to resolve those jam codes. It doesn't mention jamming in the bulletin, but guys here have pointed me to it, and it fixed my issues. Takes a while to do, though.

Clean the parts with alcohol to insure a good bond. Then mix up a few drops of 10-minute setting, 2-part epoxy. I use the remaining piece of paper clip to apply a very thin layer of epoxy to the edges of the original flag. Set the paper clip-edge into the epoxy, and nudge it into that perfect position.

Then the hard part: not touching it for 20 minutes.

The paperclip will outlast a new flag. =^..^=

I've used 2 part epoxy on several things. One of those tings was a bar top.

Just curious if anyone has ever used baking soda + super glue?

The last few batches that I've gotten of superglue have been completely worthless. I believe somebody must have glued themself to a work project then sued the glue manufacturer. As a result all the things that made superglue really work had to be removed.

I've entirely switched over to epoxy. =^..^=

Agreed, the current superglue does not bond much of anything anymore. I switched to the Gorilla superglue and it works much better. It adheres to most plastics but it does take a little longer to set.

Krazyglue @ CVS has a brush. Good stuff for parts and to glue finger cuts back together.
