Yeah, with the 8000, 8001 series we would always have to do a Pm @ 300k due to toner dusting and build up. Vac out all the dev exhausts, filters etc. The 8002/3 series we have not had to do that. They run exceptionally clean by comparison and with one high volume user would often go into the mid to high 600k s with no issues before getting the full maintenance kit.

Ive always questioned how dirty that toner duct is. We clean the duct every visit and smack the back of the disposal box to drop the toner into the bottom so the filters can pass more air thru.
Whenever ive run into toner splashing from the DV unit, i remove the DV unit and put the vacuum on the end of the DV unit where it mates with the toner duct and smack the front of the DV unit with my screw driver knocking all that toner out. A few DV refreshes and the toner splashing seems to go away.

I haven't seen very many of these machines make 600k with out a visit but it does happen.

Thanks for the info. Think we are on the right track with these things. Too bad the 7004 has such a small toner bottle. They seem like better machines.

Could you send me that bulletin? We have a ton of those machines in schools. Kyocera owns us but doesn't give us access to QAs etc.

We had a 7003 the tech replaced all the stuff but he was still getting background. I got him to run all the calibrations listed in U952 MK Kit and it went away.

Either non genuine toner or a HVT bias issue by the sound of it. Some test pages would be useful

working on a cs8003 with grey background on prints. I'm printing a file from a usb stick so optics are not a factor.
I've replaced the charge roller, drum unit, developer unit and the high voltage pwb. still has background.
    Any ideas?
