Re: Kyocera 3645 not grabbing an IP address.
Update for everyone. Went back and played around with it and changing the speed from Auto to 100base-t fixed the issue, even though the Auto was picking that anyway. Really odd and I've never seen that harken before.

Great, tmaged advice.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.

I'll have to file this one away just in case I ever run into it. I'm still a little surprised that it would grab a DHCP address when you moved it to a different location (port). Oh well, chalk it up to magic and move on.....Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Kyocera 3645 not grabbing an IP address.
I have experienced this type of thing before. It started when smart switches started showing up out in the field.
For some reason a particular nic card on a device will not negotiate with the smart switch when the nic card is set to auto. Setting the nic card to a fixed speed stops the negotiating processes and things work.
I have experienced this with different devices in different locations. Not very often, but it does happen.Comment

The only similar instance I've seen is that the NIC appeared to be frozen and switching between auto and the manual settings got it to working again.
This particular problem is just weird because the machine worked fine on a different port on the same switch. If anyone can solve that riddle, I'm all ears. lolAdversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Only thing different is the network drop. I've had a couple customer replace the drop and resolve this particular issue.Comment

The machine has been working fine since I switched the network speed to 100Base-t over Auto even though Auto choose 100Base-t.
