    [Misc] MA4000x copying/scanning

    trying to diagnose a printer over the phone and kfs c/s they can run documents through the feeder just fine and they get scanned for copying but when they try to run something on the original glass it won't scan and says to place originals no error code or anything and just sits there when you hit start

    I ran into this with a new install recently, what used to be the "auto detect originals" setting under common settings is now "detect standard size".
    For whatever reason if this setting is turned on you cannot scan using the table glass.
    In short, go to Common Settings > Auto Detect > Detect Std. Size > then set to off.

      Did you lower the DP?
      When the device is in ‘Detect Original Size’ mode and you place an original on the glass, size detection (typically) happens when you lower the DP/Platen cover. You should see the Original Size in the display panel switch to the detected size as the cover is lowered.

          In my case, I had tried that, and no matter what I did it would not scan/copy off of the glass with that setting on.
          Called Tech Support and they had no answers for me either, couldn't even tell me about the setting in question.
          No matter what, I'd get a passive prompt along the top of the screen to load the DP.

            If you can post the Event log maybe we can find some issue there

              maybe one hidden wrong scan setting behind.
              run SP U021 or data sanitization by system menue for reset from all settings to default.
