Ecosys Kyocera PA5000X - Sleeping Issue

Our company recently deployed our first two Kyocera printers, each being a PA5000x. The department that they are in prints a page on average about every 3 minutes. Between prints, the printers keep going to sleep despite sleep timer in the the "quick recovery / energy saver" settings being upped to 10 minutes. Watching them, they seem to be going to sleep after just 1 minute. Waking up, these printers take a full 20 seconds for the first print. Is there another setting somewhere that I'm missing that will make these wait a little longer than 1 minute before going to sleep?

By the way, if the department happens to do 2 print jobs back to back within the same minute, the printers are very fast printing in about 8 seconds.

That’s weird. If you set sleep timer to ten minutes it shouldn’t be going to sleep in 1. Got a picture of the status page out of this one?

Do you select Quick recovery?
I don't know your location, but maybe related to the fuc***** new UK PSTI regulations for energy saving.
On previous printer series we do not get the quick recovery option without using special prescribe command .
Because no U346 exist...

Attaching the current status page. I played with the settings a little more on Saturday. Right now, the sleep timer is at 25 minutes and on energy saver. It doesn't seem to matter what settings the printer is put on, it just goes to sleep and it's the exact same on the quick recovery as the energy saver. I printed this 3 minutes ago, and it's already showing a status of sleeping. Note that both printers are doing the exact same thing.

Yes. Rebooted both printers. I haven't messed with the firmware.

I would do a full firmware install. Sometimes that will fix issues.

By that, I think kuby means remove the 'es_skip' file from the memory stick before using it?

What country are you in? I can see only one level of firmware available that you could upgrade too, but the curious thing I see on the status page is “Regulatory domain 2” Perhaps it has been locked into these settings due to local regulations?

I’d probably factory reset it as well to eliminate any sort of issues that may have occurred due to some changes made.

Factory resetting it may have done the trick! I'm at 10 minutes from the test print and this printer is actually still showing ready on the screen instead of sleeping. I'll definitely know after my users use it tomorrow.

Where is the firmware located that you see? I'm on Kyocera's US website and do not see any firmware for this printer model on there. I see one on the UK website. Is that it?

Well, I spoke too soon! Once the printer hit the 25 minute mark and went to sleep, it doesn't want to leave sleep. The printer will print after 20-30 seconds, but the display continuously shows "sleeping." I guess the firmware update is the way to go.

That sounds like normal behaviour to me, screens won't always show anything other than 'sleeping' despite the fact that they are blatantly doing something.

This is normal condition if system not set to full recovery mode.
Incoming printjob will not full wake up the system yet, but it's the first good condition for you to shorten the wake up time.
For more shorten the waiting time for 1. print you has to set [quick recovery mode] instead of [energy saving mode] by the command Center.
if it's not available, send the prescribe command i shared before to get the possibility for select.
