[Misc] TA 3252 (Intermittent) Stalls while scanning to File pdf etc

The customer will pick the scan destination then put the papers in the ADF she hits start. The sheet will feed in a few inches then the copier will stop to the point that she will have to turn the copier off and on again. I believe she is scanning to email and not a folder. It does not do it it the middle of a job. I cannot re-create the problem. Works for me every time when I am there... We are at the point of having the Kyocera helpdesk check what they could but at this point they can't log into the network because of security issues. We are working that out so they can check the network. (The IT guy has the network very locked down) Any Help is VERY appreciated !!!

If it's happening on scan to email only and scanning to folder with no issues, I would think it's an IT issue and consult with their IT dept. IMO scan to email is not as reliable as scan to smb. Make sure your firmware is up to date, port, dns, and smtp settings are correct along with reply address.

Going to try to have Kyocera look at it tomorrow. I am trying to get ahead of things and wondering what hardware to install if needed or if an IT problem is what to concentrate on. Not knowing the IT side sure slows me down here... lol I appreciate your response and will show to the IT guy I am meeting with tomorrow. THANKS !!

There's not much to go off of. Are they using a gmail account or what? Maybe do a continuous ping to the router to make sure the connection is good. You can even ping the mail server. Exp.: ping smtp.gmail.com -t

You can also do a tracert to see how many hops to the mail server and if the route may be broken. Example: tracert smpt.gmail.com

It could be anything at this point. Bad port on the switch. Bad network cable. Or the problem may lie on the other side of the router. Good luck.

system will not ask for restart without showing any kind of error code on the screen.
Please ask the customer to check the screen in case of error.
When i am right, lower left corner you will see the error code
Also check event log for c-calls at first.

I agree that it definitely sounds like a network issue, however, I also just had very similar symptoms on a 4002i that were caused by a crack in the document processor frame (more or less). If it happens at all on any other use of the DP (copying, scan to USB, etc) and it's a DP-7100, it could be that. QA 2ND-0131 (J059) has the details, but I got c9180 (DP shift motor) errors and j0100 (paper jam caused by firmware factors), then found shattered screw posts when the hotline had me replace the DP PWB. It took several emails to our rep to find that QA, even the hotline tech didn't know about it.

I think that scanning to USB memory is a troubleshooting tool that is often overlooked. I can check a lot on an ADF with U0243 and U244. But for me, nothing beats running originals through the ADF for testing. And the best way I have found is just scanning to USB memory. It kind of like when I make a copy off the glass and check it against a copy made thru the ADF or print job. Isolating where the problem may be, that is, finding out where there is no problem.

I had a case a few months ago that sounds similar to this (maybe). It is a 3252 with a DP-7110. When scanning a 2 sided document, copy, folder or usb, it would sometimes stall out and hang on a screen that read processing or scanning or something like that. It would not get past that screen without turning it off and back on. Never asked for a reboot or logged anything in the event log either.
After cleaning everything I replaced the CID, HDD, main boards in the print engine and DP to no avail. I replaced the top door of the DP and cured it. As it turns out the white roller in the top door was the culprit. I put a new one in the original top cover and has been fine since. The white roller that was causing all the problem did not look dirty or defective in any way, it just did not work.

                FWIW, I hope this helps.

                  Correct me if I'm wrong.
If it is caused by counterfeit prevention it will make you restart and not give a code or log anything in the event log, correct?

If it is a Dual Scan DP then swap out/reseat the DPIF PWB. It has 500MB memory for DP scan data which may have a failure.
