[Misc] Kyocera M6630cidn No Paper Message

Have a M6630, when the paper tray is full it works fine. When it gets below 1/2 full it will indicate "No Paper in Tray 1". Sometimes I can open/close the tray and it will feed a few sheets then give the message again. Replaced the feed roller assembly (with spring) and sep roller assembly (both new) and also tried swapping the paper tray. Firmware is up to date. Tech Support didn't have anything. Any ideas?

For testing, clean the roller with isopropanol or better with rubber conditioner.
When problem fixed, cahnge the roller

Thanks. Wouldn't think it would be something like that with such few copies, but will give it a try.

It's not about number of copies, it's about how aggressive the enduser is with the tray. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have had this issue before! Might be one of the WORST designs for paper feed actuation I've ever come across.

We had one similar where it would say to check cassette - ended up being how the separation roller unit was sitting. There's a spring loaded fin that wasn't in the correct place; and of course, the manual, per usual, showed nothing helpful.

I agree with it being a bad design but reading the manual it does show you that you have to have the cassette installed while putting the separation roller unit in . That was helpful

                      Hi

Would you by any chance have a part number for this paper actuator. We have a doctor as a customer who exceeded the max paper in the tray and actually broke off the actuator arm also causing it to read empty when the tray was half.

There is a gear inside the printer that matches up with a floating gear in the paper drawer and it lifts the paper up.
If that gear has a broken tooth or teeth it will only turn the paper lift gear only so far, Hence it works when the drawer is full of paper
As the paper gets removed the lift gear has to keep lifting the paper, but a tooth is missing and won't lift it any more.
I have had to replace the gear in the machine that I am talking about. It is a real pain to replace, but at least check that gear out for possible broken teeth
Maybe even teeth broken on the paper drawer floating gear too.
