C7901 in a TA 3502ci will not reset

Just before the new year I went out to a customer that called and said the machine has a C7901 (Drum unit K EEPROM error). So I went out taking a DK-8550 drum unit just in case.

When I arrived I did a C0906, no change. I then swapped the cyan drum with the black drum to see if the problem followed the drum, no change. I swapped the drums back and then tried the drum I brought, no change. I left the new drum in the machine and backed up the settings with U917. I then flashed the machine with the lasted firmware. When it rebooted, C7901. I then reinitialized the machine (U021), no change upon reboot. I examined and re-seated (where I could) the connections on the drum relay PCB, feed image PCB, engine PCB, and main PCB. Rebooted the machine, no change.

At this point, I had the machine brought into the shop leaving a loaner 3552ci in its place. In the shop I have swapped out the drum relay PCB, feed image PCB, engine PCB with another working machine. All with out change. I have taken the PCBs I have removed and put them into the donor machine and that machine works just fine. I also tried swapping the black developer unit as well as the transfer belt and that resulted in no change of state. But those units work fine in the donor machine.

Finally (and most importantly) I kicked the stand of this machine but that resulted in no change as well.

I did contact Kyocera early on in this process and they just wanted me to replace the PCBs I have already replaced.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Since you already kicked it, the last logical thing to do is...unfortunately... turn it off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.

I'm not familiar with this model. If it is like a TA3252, TA3552 or a TA4002 it will have a drum DLP connect PWB that the drum and developer plug into. It can be found in the parts catalog in frame base.

i know it`s crazy, but try to change transfer belt!
Have heard from 1 maybe similar case
Tech changed belt because of image problems
He got C1950 and exchanged belt connect pwb + feed image pwb with no luck
Checked belt connector on the belt and found 2 bent pins, he straightened the pins with a tweezers.
After mounting from the belt he always got C7901.
like you, all the boards have been replaced --> no luck, still C7901
Finally he mounted other belt and system was running well.
Maybe the pwb from belt would damaged and blocked the serial data stream....

Did you checked all serialnumbers by U117, U122, U165, U984?
BK drum is the first part, system is asking for during the stream.
I think no serial number will be visible in your case.

          Sorry.

Early in the morning I seem to not be able to type much less proofread what I am writing.

          The model is a TS3552ci.
