Which small Kyocera's constantly turn and heat the fuser?

    Hi all,

I'm hoping for some advice! I know that TaskAlfa's will turn fusers all the time, especially with extended sleep settings and that Silent Mode is a good method to reduce premature fuser wear.

What about the smaller units? Such as ECOSYS MFP's from 2040's to 6635's? Do they have a similar strategy, or are they unaffected?

    Penny for your thoughts.

    Thanks!

From my understanding, they don't constantly run. Even so, Silent Mode DRASTICALLY reduces print speeds on the smaller units, I definitely don't recommend turning it on, just lower the sleep timer.

I believe it's only the induction heated units that do this. On the TASKalfa's, turn U346 Fuser mode to off.
      Hope that helps !

Smaller desktop printers have Quiet Mode, while larger machines have Silent Mode. Silent Mode stops the noisy fuser rotation but slows down print speeds slightly, while Quiet Mode significantly slows down print's speeds. Unlike bigger models, smaller printers don't have actively turning fusers. Initially, I thought both modes were similar, but there actually different. This got me a few callbacks when I set up some new M6635's with Quiet Mode for "super slow print speeds" haha

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I will experiment with sleep settings and observe if the fusers stay hot when idle. Glad they don't rotate at least. New to these machines, so again, I appreciate the input

Thank you! So I played with this setting vs Silent Mode. It seems as though U346 Fuser OFF will allow fuser to rotate for about a minute and a half after last print - then it stops. Unsure whether it stops heating. Silent Mode seems to override U346 Fuser OFF mode, as I observed the fuser stops rotating immediately after print. Again, unsure if it stops heating.

As a side note, I pulled a failing fuser out of a TaskAlfa 6052ci and the plastic mounts that held the speed sensors front and back had become so brittle that they broke under very little stress. Must be a lot of heat soak.

Good to know, thanks! Has it been your experience that the little ones keep the fuser warm and ready until sleep?

Thanks for posting. The knowledge bombs you and others drop have been instrumental in my growth as a tech. I've never cheated the side door switch to see if the fuser is rotating. But, from the sound of a big machine with Silent Mode Off it sounds like the fuser is rotating when compared to U030 Fuser.
