    [CQ] TA 550 (or Kyoshiba)

i have a 550 in my print shop. i'm getting a black line about an inch and a half form top of page. i have swapped out drums (no change), transfer belt (no change) and belt cleaner (no change).
i am also getting black streaks (not as solid or as dark as the one above). i happens on every color in test print mode.
i have overnighted every mk out there for this ( i have 824k on this machine). i will install tomorrow when they come in. has anyone seen this streaking before. i have attached an image as well.
the cyan hue inbetween the cyan bars is not on the print (dont know where that came from during the scan). but you can see the horizontal banding in it (which is grey).
thanks for any input. like i said, full mk are going in tomorrow.

    (btw i have the manuals)

Do the ends of the black line run through the edge voids?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

no. i think its a charge grid problem. i'll be finding out tomorrow when i replace all the charging systems.

        update:

well my parts came in today. i went to install them. the machine has been running all morning (b&w and color mode) all morning with no issues!

dont have a clue to what was wrong or what it did to correct itself. but i'm happy!

          well, that didnt last long.

the line came back. so i rebuilt the entire charge grid..what a PITA that is. so we shall see how this goes.

          not a fun afternoon.

i'll update as soon as possible.

I don't think it will help you. A charge issue would present through the voids, and tend to create a drum cleaning issue for that drum. Neither of those would go away intermittently. Now intermittent arcing might create some electrical disturbance... but there would be other evidence, like pinholes in the drum or that white dusty coating on the charge blocks. I'm leaning towards something optical.

As guesses go, I would take a closer look at the black laser: slit glass, electrical connections (especially ribbon cable connectors), harnass routing (possible induced currents, due to proximity of wires carrying logic level currents to wires carrying larger currents). How about lint in the viscinity of the laser shutter, intermittently dangling in the optical path? Or a laser shutter that doesn't open completely.

Do you have any CA10, CA12, CA47, or CF90 recorded on the log?

Page 461 to 462 in the service manual gives a long detailed, test procedure of the laser unit.

Gosh that sounds like fun. I wish I could be there. =^..^=

I'd also take a good long look in the area of the blk dev unit.
