What would cause this copier to copy an 11 x 8.5 image on a piece of paper that is going 8.5 x 11 through the machine, especially when the original on the glass is positioned 8.5 x 11? It is like it is rotating the image but it shouldnt be doing so. I can switch the trays to where they both are feeding the same way and I still have the problem. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any help appreciated, thank you.

Like jimbo says: If you get just a little oxidation on the variable resister that measures the width, it will give false readings. If the size is not reading correctly just slide the width guides back and forth a few times to scrape of the oxidation. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have you cleaned the sensors in the scanner section, the paper sensors are Photo sensors, so any dirt or dust accumulated might cause that, might seem dumb, but clean the backing of the Doc Feeder (some times, if its too dirty, the sensors will detect it as a bigger paper.)Comment

There was a bulletin years ago on the switch that activates when you close the feeder. It actually goes on the feeder side that actuates the switch. It's a little black patch that is probably 1/8 inch thick that makes the switch actuates sooner. There is probably a light in the room above the copier causing the ODS to read incorrectly and this solves the problem. Good luck.GingerComment
