I'm trying to remember how to reset the drum and dev counts on a KM5035. The book says to press the reset key then the print key after you are in the sim, but it doesn't reset it. Maint count reset fine. Any tricks out there? Thanks.

Re: KM 5035 Resetting drum and dev counts
I don't believe you can manually reset the Drum or DV count on the 5035. These models had chips on the different units with counts on them. I just tried resetting the 4035 we have in our shop, with the same outcome. Reset key does nothing. Think you've got to replace the units (or at least steal a chip from a new unit) to reset the count. DV Drive Time reset fine, but not the count.
On a side note... I had to reset a fuser count on a FS-9530 while we were waiting for a new fuser to arrive. Customer had their shorts in a knot about the PM message. So I used some speaker wire with a couple leads on the end, and a push-button switch on the other end to close the fuse link circuit on the fuser board. I just pressed the button repeatedly during warm-up, and the count reset. I'm not sure I would recommend this as a solution, unless you are really determined, or really desperate.I must have a prodigious quantity of mind; it takes me as much as a week sometimes to make it up - Mark TwainComment

1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Vestigial structure...? Older models allowed you to reset via those sims. Perhaps they just didn't think to take the sims out of those models, or perhaps it is just so you can see the counts on those units, allowing you to be proactive with the service.I must have a prodigious quantity of mind; it takes me as much as a week sometimes to make it up - Mark TwainComment
