Hi we have a taskalfa 500ci stuck on welcome screen looking for the firmware to try a reflash it have access to utax firmware for equivalent machine not sure if it is the same any help would be much appreciated
Re: taskalfa 500ci firmware stuck on welcome screen
The actual firmware should be correct. I install Copystar firmware in Kyocera Mita & Copystar MFPs, with no problems. But the display language must be correct. Chinese or Swahili firmware might restore your machine, but who would read the screen for you? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
Re: taskalfa 500ci firmware stuck on welcome screen
Firmware is ok for uk as downloaded from Utax just seems to get stuck when firmware loading message about panel error tried cf and USB uploads of ver 5
Re: taskalfa 500ci firmware stuck on welcome screen
Do you have access to the hotline? What you need is Engine firmware only with the associated files. Once that loads correctly, then you can try to load the full version firmware, then upgrade as necessary.
If this fails, you may need to replace one or more of the following items, then re-try with the same procedure:
CODE DIMM
HDD
Main PWB
Do you know which firmware fails? Does it even start? It can take as long as 45 minutes, so don't get too anxious and stop it early. I wait at least 60 minutes before I consider shutting off. =^..^=

Re: taskalfa 500ci firmware stuck on welcome screen
Not sure if firmware is starting switch dip switch on panel pcb to boot leave it for about 20 minutes after light stops flashing then switch to normal and try to boot first engine&pannel firmware from cf but after about 15 min get error message (will check tomorrow and let you know what it says) about 3 missing files does the same thing if you try to load from USB at port at back both are formated in fat also does same if you try to load all firmware with same message trying ver 5 believe higher version need this first. This is the first time had welcome screen error
Re: taskalfa 500ci firmware stuck on welcome screen
The advisory is a little unclear.
Yes, version 5 is required before version 13 (if you have a version below 5). But if you have any version above 5, you can go directly to 13.
Most of my machines get updated only one level at a time. I've gotten recommendations from other techs to do all upgrades. Jumps of 3 levels of firmware have resulted in crashes.
Now back to your problem: You could have a bad panel PWB. =^..^=

Re: taskalfa 500ci firmware stuck on welcome screen
Hard Drives are mechanical assemblies that generally spin at between 5,400 RPM and 7,200 RPM. They work as long as the copier is on. These newer copiers are set up so you should power them down from the power button on the operation panel before you turn the power switch off, does youe customer do this? This is to allow the Disk Drive to shut down correctly. If the disk drive is constantly shut down incorrectly it may cause the head to crash and also cause more errors on the drive. Which can shorten their life.
