[Misc] Ricoh Afcio SP C830dn streaking and faded lines

    Hello Techs,
I have a Ricoh Afcio SP C830dn that has been converted to print digital ceramic decals I can fire in a kiln to produce memorial picture tiles that go on headstones. I was having issues with about half the image being faded which means there was streaking of the print. The manufacturer said to pull the imaging units and vacuum out everything real good. They said to be ultra careful with not scratching the blue roller on top of the imaging unit. I pulled the units and vacuumed everything out and that resolved that issue but created another one.

I was super careful and I dont think I scratched the blue roller thing but now I have faded lines running through about half the image in an area I didnt before, please see the picture attached. Pulling the imaging units did fix the last problem but now I have this issue with faded lines on about half the image on the other side of the page.
Im stuck. The manufacturer is out of business due to covid I guess and he wont return anymore calls. Any suggestions on whats wrong and what needs to be fixed? Any idea what that might cost?

    Thanks!

you need to do the following things:
    1) clean the laser glasses (under the photoconductors)
    2) turn the development group gear back and forth ten times to free the doctor blade
    3) I don't know your skills, but I would disassemble the photoconductors and clean the charge rollers gently with water and a mild detergent and the drum surface with a rag and isopropilic alcool

    p.s.
all this provided that the photoconductors have not exceeded their useful life by much

have you tried following the procedure to solve the print quality problems in the "troubleshooting" of the user manual?
      Also clean the ID sensors

        Luca,

he lists himself as a Non Tech/End user. I think him disassembling the Drums would lead to other issues.

He should hire a trained tech.

It always worries me seeing these machines converted with ceramic toner, it's like the Gelsprinters converted to run dye sublimation ink.

Anyhoo, have a look at the "SUPPLIES" menu on the front page. Scroll through and see if anything says "Replace Now". The ceramic toner will be more abrasive on the drums, mag rollers, transfer belt and fuser than standard toner, it may be that parts are failing earlier than normal PM life.

How many has this thing done?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.

you mentioned that the manufacturer is out of business due to covid and won't return your calls? ummm no i talk to ricoh whenever needed. what company do they say they are with when they answer the phone? it sounds like to me that you are not talking to a real ricoh tech from ricoh. ricoh wouldn't tell an end user to vacuum out the drum unit. they would recommend a certified ricoh tech to do this. as they know the problems that could occur if an end user did this process. just my 2 cents worth.

I think he means the company that converted it to ceramic.

looks almost like the one or more doctor blades have debris on them causing the white voids. drum units could be near end of life.
