    MP C3003 and 4503

Been having this issue come up on some Metis C1 series I have in the field and it is turning into a headache and just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone else was running into this same issue.

I'm getting lots of calls for flaking, ghosting, and smudges on paper...and almost all of the machine have a lot of toner gunk build up on the fuser stripper plate on the right side ( top of page for documents that feed LEF)

On one particular machine I probably changed everything out to try to test it, and when doing full color photos, I still get flaking at the top of the page for documents from tray 1 LEF. This is what i have replaced, mind you they were from other known working machines and not brand new, Fuser, Transfer roller, Transfer Belt, all 4 PCU's, made sure there was OEM toner in there.

But when I run them SEF, they come out fine, is it possible the edges of the fuser are not heating correctly but the center is? Could this have anything to do with the thermopiles inside the machine?

I trust you are running genuine toner & have the paper tray weights set correctly?

What are the PM counters? Does the machine do a lot of 1 to 5 page jobs? Recommend PM replacement is based on an average of 11 to 50 pages per job. The fewer number of pages per job, the more time the machine spends with the engine running (PCDU, ITB,PTR and Fusing Unit turning) with no paper passing through.

Yup..... more wear-n-tear on service/supply parts.
Depending on majority of the C/P made per media used.

          Yes copier tech.

Oh wow I don't think I knew that...very interesting, good to know...Yes most of my customers are these types.

Isn't there a place in the SM to read fuser temperature on the ends as well as the center? What controls the temperature throughout the fusing sleeve to make sure it is even?

when printing photos on full page I advise customers to use heavier paper then set thickness 2 or other on the driver, this because the 80gr sheet tends to roll up with high concentration of toner, not to mention damp paper ...

clean the thermistors, clean ID sensor, run process control, and set from the pc driver "quality setting from [speed] to [quality], eventually increase the paper thickness, but I think the first two actions are sufficient

Apparently the code must be regional, something the online sellers wouldn't know. Even when they are selling genuine Ricoh it could be for the wrong region.

The PSG for the US shows the toner for both the C3004 and C3003 EDP code 841813.

I apologize I've been away from these threads for awhile...that is very useful information about toner EDP codes and I'll be sure to check those out. Thanks all for your input
