Some Ricoh printers not updating Firmware

    Hi Ricoh Experts,

Some ricoh models firmware is not updating. I have tried using SD and through ricoh online firmware update tool. Both methods give error. Online tool gives error "Device is disconnected or OFF" when its already connected, pinging and showing on WIM.

SD Firmware update gives error E61.

    Models are C4503 and C305.

Is there any solution to update the firmware.

    Thanks in advance

I have a couple of 3004s lying around that won't read the sd card from slot 2, we updated them with RFU, it's probably a controller failure, but everything else was working fine, so we left them as is
as for RFU, make sure FTP is enabled in WIM, and also SSDP, after the update you can turn them off

      Thankyou for your response.

Can you please guide how to do this RFU firmware upgradation?

RFU its abbreviation of "Ricoh Fimrware Update tools", its same thing of that you said of used, probably RFU does not detect the machine on the network because FTP is turned off (maybe), or the machine has a different admin login password than the default one in RFU, e.g. admin without password vs admin - admin, or Admin vs Admin
check if the lan parameter of the machine are correct, in particular also the subnet mask

RFU is not Firmware update tool. RFU is Remote Firmware update, to be used with web Image monitor.

Have you tried a different SD card?
Make sure it is properly formatted.
I also believe the capacity has to be less than 1Gb.
Are you using the Package Firmware or .fwu (romdata) files?
Whatever you are using, try the other way.
The firmware update tool or package firmware will also not work if there is ANY custom firmware modules installed. I've run into this issue before. and had to install a regular version of the firmware via an SD card using the .fwu files, and then it would update using the tool

I am using "package" firmware. The capacity of SD card is 512 MB. It works fine on other machines. I f I copy another firmware of different model in the same SD card it updates the firmware but this one give error E61.

Ricoh online firmware tool also give connection /device off error while its pinging printing perfectly.

I do not have .fwu (Rom data files)

The fix is to first update the system / copy first then you can update using the .pkg file.

Use WinRarr to open the .pkg file, inside are all the .fwu files, copy these to a folder & name it romdata

But as you know the C305 doesn't use the package firmware, it can take a few attempts before it will start updating.
