    [Misc] Staple setting

Hi everyone, sorry I've not been around for a while.

I have a customer who has an IM C5500 and an IM C8000. They are printing very large documents (several hundred pages), and want them stapled.
On the IM C5500, as they print a document, it will staple the first 50, then staple the next set of 50, etc., this is what they want it to do.
On the IM C8000, if the document is above the maximum staple limit of 65, it outputs the job unstapled.

I am not able to gain remote access onto the IM C8000, but have checked the bit switches on the IM C5500, nothing in there that would cause the device to perform this way. I have also checked SP5-199-1/2/3, all settings are at 0 (default) on the IM C5500.

Does anyone have any idea on the setting that will help my customer please.

hi, the same thing happened to me a few years ago on a mp5000 from a customer, only I don't have to remember how we solved it, the machine was replaced last year (not for that), and it was scrapped, and therefore the serial number with the history of the interventions was deleted from the database of our management software, I'll try to ask my boss if he remembers....did you try another driver?...or could be normal operation?

Hi, that would be great if they can remember.

It's not normal operation, I have checked the driver settings. I even exported the preset from the IM C5500 and imported it onto the IM C8000 in case there was a hidden setting that I hadn't spotted

        Hi,

After changing sp SP5-199 mode setting to 2, did you restart the printer?

Can you also verify that When Exceeded Max. Number of Sheets for Stapling is set to continuous printing and auto continue is on in printer features.

If it works, don't touch it.

Hi, I am no longer a field engineer, I am on the technical helpdesk.

I can gain remote access to the IM C5500, but connection fails on the IM C8000.
I checked SP5-199 -001/2/3 on the IM C5500, all settings were set to 0 (default), so I have not sent an engineer to amend these settings on the IM C8000.

Yes, When Exceeded Max. Number of Sheets for Stapling is set to continuous printing, this was one of the first things I checked, but I haven't checked auto continue yet.

I'm sorry..... I have nothing to offer on the topic here.
I just want to say that it's REALLY NICE to see Debs name pop up in the forum again.
Seems that so many of the best, and wisest techs that helped and taught me so much over the years have moved on in the past few years, and I thought Debs was among them.
She saved my bacon on countless occasions over the years!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again....... I'm very thankful for your expertise!

yes, it's true, you think that here in Italy, in the 35 years that I've been doing this job, I've never seen a woman working as a printer technician, the only one that happened to me was once when I spoke to HP support, but she wasn't very prepared

I do pop in from time to time, but I found, while there is a huge amount of knowledge amongst members, the toxicity became too much for me to want to read on a regular basis. When I first joined there was none of that and I really enjoyed all the interactions

Thank you, this was the answer, unfortunately I had to send an engineer to site as I couldn't access the IM C8000 remotely, but, strangely, I had checked this setting on the IM C5500 and it was set to 0, so I ruled it out

I totally agree, though I have the pleasure of communicating with Debs everyday, while we compete on Wordle, and I had the pleasure of meeting her in person, about 12 years ago, and I can confirm, that's she's a very lovely lady, I just wish we weren't so far apart, then we could catch up in person more often
