In terminal, if you go to the folder containing the one you created for sharing, enter ls -la and see what the permissions for the scan folder are. This will also give you the owner of the folder.

On the C2051 you may need to specify the exact path from root. Like for my Windows laptop it would be //users/(my user name)/desktop just to get to the desktop.

Surely if you do not, in the end they will end up taking advantage of your good faith. Although it is one more way to enrich your knowledge, that time, and squeezing your brain to solve problems should never be free.

How to Install and Configure Wireshark on Ubuntu 20.04

Once installed, start Wireshark, attempt scan to folder, stop Wireshark after error. Find first SMB packet from MFP, right click, and 'Follow TCP Stream"

Close the packet detail window which pops up to display the filtered SMB conversation.

Screenshot and post and maybe we can stop guessing here.

[SOLVED] hey guy, i managed to solve the problem by replicating the ubuntu configuration on virtual machine here in the lab, below what I did, since by now it was all messed up and you no longer understood anything, I started from "zero"

          - install the latest version ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS
          - removed our dns server from network settings (seems to be making some mess with updates)
          - used google dns (8.8.8.8 + 8.8.4.4)
          - installed and configured samba by following the instructions on official Ubuntu tutorial and following them to the letter
          -configured mpc6003

Install and Configure Samba | Ubuntu

I will congratulate you for your success, but you really didn't learn anything other than how to follow a guide but not to find your own way. I hoped to teach you to fish but you just went to the market.

Your DNS is invalid for internal addresses, (Google is not resolving your Ubuntu hostame) so you must have resorted to IP or are running port 139. You do not know what version of SMB your MFP is running or what Ubuntu is allowing.

Next time try to learn how protocols work and it wont matter if it's Windows, Linux, MAC or some NAS.

this is a replica in vm, of customer installation, probably our windows server (I don't follow the it part of our company, and I cannot get my hands on it), which acts as dns for some reason, doesn't get along very well with virtualbox, so there was no alternative but to remove it, but this doesn't affected whether it scans or not, obviously I won't be able to resolve into names, but to do these tests it's okay, the important thing that it works, the port is 445 and the service is smb V2, wireshark hangs on both PCs I have available, and I have not had time to investigate, but I will do it calmly at home, perhaps in front of a beer, greetings
