    Ricoh Aficio 1013 Side Door

Has anyone had problems with keeping the right side door shut? Customers are calling us telling us that the machine is telling them to shut the right side door yet the door is shut. Did notice that there appears to be something keeping that door from shutting securely. Have not been able to determine cause yet. Any thoughts. Thanks.

At the top of the side door there are two little claws that hold the handle in, the one closest to the front of the machine has broken. You have to replace the entire side door, unfortunately it doesn't come as a complete unit, just the door, you have to swap all the duplex components, grounding plates etc over to the new one.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

You can always adjust the door switch a little so the switch makes better contact.

i used duck tape for this to keep the door tight against the frame.
check the switch and see if its out of range of the accuator...

            1013 door

I find that the door interlock switch gets bent in a little just take a small
screwdriver and form it out toward the door that seams to do the trick for me

Its not the hooks that break, its the bit on the door where they pivot and holds them in place. You still have to replace the cover and swap all the bits over though.

I must admit I do like duct tape!!! I have adjusted the switch on a few of these copiers that have had this problem and that works. What I've noticed with this copier is that the door doesn't seem to stay shut securely like the others. Appears something is keeping it from shutting securely meaning when it's shut you can still oush on the door and it moves in about a 1/4 inch or so. This is whether the drum unit is in or not. I'm next going to pull the fuser out and see how well the door shuts!!!
                Thanks!!!

I tried to explain that, guess my English wasn't too good that day!

                      door

Fuser heat causes warpage on both the door & the latch. Remove the latch & sight down it or use a straight edge. If warped get out your heat gun & reform it., cool quickly under cold water faucet. Done this more than once.
