    MP2510 acting up

    Hey guys,

I've got this MP2510 that's giving me a hard time. It keeps giving SC542 codes. I've gone through the fuser and can find no errors, just in case I'm trying it in another machine tomorrow but I'm sure it's fine. We've also tried changing the PSU but to no avail. My support are very helpful but I thought I'd just ask you guys too.

    Any angles are welcome!
    Peace sells, but who's buying?

I agree with Venom, my experience says it's usually the thermistors. Replace 'em both.

          Thanks guys!

Actually we've replaced both thermistors. But, today when trying the fuser in another machine it gave an SC541 code instead.
My support had an idea that maybe it was the old PSU that fried the thermistors, even the new ones. So I'll do just that, replace them again.

there is a rtb out on sc 542 that constantly happens....firmware could be the solution.

I tried to find that rtb but I couldn't... do you happen to have an RD number on it?

It's RTB22. It's to do with the metal plates that connect the thermostats together, the screws holding them weren't put in right.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

RTB22? I don't get that... it's the same reference as in the manuals whenever there's an update. Problem is I can't see those numbers, all I see is:

And so on... there's no RTB number. Am I blind or plain stupid?? :P

Did you check the thermal fuses? They can be repaired by throwing them against the wall. Also, check the fusing frame around the HR bearings. Sometimes the frame cracks or break, giving sc codes.

Yes, I did check the fuses. They're OK, I even measured them and they're letting power through. The bearings aren't in the best condition, but far from purple as they usually get when they're done for. The frame is undamaged though.

We've ordered new thermistors and we'll try changing those out as soon as they come. Hopefully that's it.

Okay, so we changed the thermistors now, and tried the fuser in an MP2550CSN machine and it worked. Made 50 copies without any issues.
Went to the troublesome MP2510 and inserted the fuser, went 5-810 to clear fuser code, rebooted - SC542 again.

My support says it must be the BICU card then. I don't know, I just wanna buy 5 pounds of dynamite and blow it to kingdom come... what are your recommendations? TNT or Nitroglycerine?

Check the cable running from the fusing unit to the power supply for continuity, maybe a broken cable?

Blowing up the machine will solve the SC-542 issue, but the customer will still not be able to make any copies! Also, try to sell some peace man! Although I know that the killing bussiness is good
