    Ricoh AF1035 streaks

I am getting streaks from entrance to exit on copies through the image. Not coming from drum. When I look at the transfer belt there is toner on it where the streaks are. I replaced the transfer belt thinking that it would resolve it but no deal. I did not replace the transfer belt cleaning blade. Would that be the next thing to do?

The blade is more important than the belt itself. Why would you change one and not the other? Stuff like that should be treated as a set.

I could not see any "nicks" or "dings" out of the blade so I didn't change it...I only ordered a belt...because I saw the toner on the belt I thought that the belt was going bad...
BTW - I am not a copier guy....I have built computers most of my life so I thought that I would attempt to repair this Ricoh MFD that my church has.

Are the bands on the back of the copy paper? Are they more towards the middle of the page?

If yes, change the blade, but leave the centre of the 3 screws out. It's easy to put too much pressure on the screw which bends the blade and the fixing bar giving poor cleaning in the centre.

Ok then, did you stop a copy/print when paper was passing the drum to confirm that it wasnt the drum/drum blade itself?

              A.

Check the mag roller for buildup. Brush away the developer from the mag roll surface, is it silver or coated like it was painted (scratch the surface with your nail)? The mag rolls in this family of mfp's are notorious for this. The toner binds (melts) to the surface acting as an insulation, reducing the bias voltage available and dispersing excess toner to the paper surface and transfer belt. Scrub or replace the mag roll and replace the developer material itself.

Or.... get a tech in. Replacing parts like developer is something a tech has to do, SP mode changes need to be made, etc etc.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                  Hit it.

Oops, I missed that line where he states he's not a tech. Definitely not something you should attempt brhodes.

Since the streaks are on the front side the transfer unit is not the problem. If you are running the original through the document feeder and getting streaks but NOT when you lay the original on the glass, you need to clean the scanner glass. Also, you may try yanking up on the left front side of the scanner. People have a tendency to lean on the scanner bending it down which will also cause streaks.

Thanks all for the input...I will check the mag roller as teebee1234 stated. I have looked for a tech in my area for this machine but can not find one...any suggestions?

Here's another possibility. If the streaks are WHITE, you need to clean the laser shield glass. It is located below the toner hopper and slides out the front of the machine. While your at it, remove the original glass and gently clean the mirrors underneath it.
