afico 2022 adf error

i have a 2022 which i have recently replaced the harness for the adf, and a clutch in the adf was replaced a little while ago aswell, it was working while i was there but as soon as i left it started giving me this code error 056 (original caught at the origianl exit sensor) now the first piece of paper makes it through fine than the error appears everytime,

please help

Have you cleaned the exit sensor or checked the adf sensors in sp mode?

Take the top cover off the ADF, then the plastic pieces that form the outer left corner of the doc feeder. There's a cutout in the plastic of the bottom piece that the registration sensor uses as a reference. It gets filled up with paper dust and fools the sensor. Clean that out and put back together and you should be good to go.

yeah i did clean the sensors but i didnt check em in sp mode, i just swapped the whole adf around though, that fixed it

When you test the adf, do you test it in duplex mode? You sometimes find that the gate which directs the paper in duplex mode gets stuck. Usually, once it is released it seems to work for a while, which may explain why it works when you get to it. There is a little square pad that the gate rests on and that sometimes becomes sticky, and stops the gate from moving.

Apologies for the quality, but I think you'll get the idea. I usually put a dab of oil on the pad, that tends to stop it sticking
