[Misc] Ricoh MP 6001/7001/8001 vs Ricoh MP 9001 Web

Anyone know why the fusing web for the Ricoh 9001 is 28m while the similar models that use the same parts catalog use a 32m web. The parts manuals has the same number for two webs, had to loose in SP section of service manual to ascertain the difference.

There are two part numbers for the Martini-C4 web, AE04 5057 and AE04 5058. The only reason I can think of the 9001 using a 28m web is the speed of the thing. Also, there are additional PM parts that the 9001 uses that the 6001, 7001 and 8001 don't. I'll have the crack with our helpdesk and see if I can find anything else out.

Also the 9001 fuser roller is larger in diameter, though I'm not sure how that affects the web length. Maybe it's a space consideration, needing a smaller diameter web to compensate for the larger fuser size - to fit into the same space?

Downloaded new parts manual and now I see extra section for the 9001 fuser. Indeed it does have a different hot roller number than the
6001/7001/8001

The 9001 hot roller, AE01 1044, is actually an older number that goes back a few models. It is heavier duty than the pop can roller, AE01-0117, that the 6001/
7001/8001 uses.

Okay, just had a response. The 9001 uses the 5058 web, the others use the 5057.

yeah I figured this out about the same time you got your response. I looked in the Service Manual and was noticing an SP that you can tell the machine what size of web you are using. Though changing it from default I imagine or using the wrong web could be very bad lol. They should update the Parts Catalog with the info beside each part like they usually do.

I had another phone call. Apparently the difference in length is offset by the web speed being turned DOWN in the 9001. How odd.

I imagine that the physical space limitation means you can't fit the larger diameter web and the larger diameter hot roller in the same unit? The 9000 doesn't have the pressure roller release mechanism, I assume for the same reason. I wonder if the pressure roller cleaning unit will get clogged more quikly on the 9000?

Probably so. We don't have any 9090's. Just 1 9080.
