[Error Code] Ricoh AF850/1105 SC322

I have an Aficio 1105 copier in the field that errors SC322.

It will print its own SMC reports and copy reading report all day long.
I can then place these pages on the ADF and copy these all day long.
Now here is the fun bit, it will not copy or print anything other than these pages.
I.e. If I place a job on the ADF or glass just a simple random page, say the customers job sheet, it will error SC322.

I can hide the random page somewhere in the SMC report and place it on the ADF, press to copy and it will error as soon as the random page comes about. It will however, copy and print blank sheets. Just as a test.

The laser unit is clean and the polygon motor is running free, but I thought if these were faulty woundn't it fail at everything not just external jobs.

I have spoken to Ricoh who has not heared of this error before and has asked me to tell them why when I have solved this issue.

The machine has in the past month been fitted with new Drum, Dev, and Toner.
Had a complete service, Vacuum out of debris, basically a full service.

This is the oddest fault I have experienced in my twenty years of working in this industry.

I cannot find anywhere on the net about this fault so I have tried to explain it the best I can just in case someone has had the same or will understand whats going on.

Help would be much appreciated.

1- check or replace right front door switch #2
2- check or replace the right front door switch #3
3- poor harness connection
4- LDB defective
5- LD unit defective
6- laser sync detector PCB defective

Yes thanks for that.

I have changed all of the door switches but with regard
to the other items, why would the copier print and copy its own
stuff but not anything else.

The price of these LDB units, LD unit and polygon motor are quite large,
and because of the age of the copier for me to order with no return just to test is something the customer doesn't want to try.

And I haven't any left in the field to swop. All have been upgraded to the Pro 1106.
I'm a little stuck.

This is indeed tricky. First of all the Error code sc322 is indisputably a sync problem in the laser unit, most probably a defective sync board. You could probably start by substituting it with a known working one.
Secondly," the copier is simply printing its own stuff" which it has stored IN its MEMORY before and NOT when u place the originals in the ADF or copyboard glass, that's why the other documents come out blank.
Theoretically, the image after being processed by the image processor board or main PCB, the image data is sent to the dc controller board and these signals are used to 'modulate' or control the laser beam. These actions are synchronized by the sync signals from sync board.
You could also flash the memories and/ or replace the main board. The customer should accept to take the investment risk.
