    AR-275 Random Black Lines

Anyone any ideas what is causing this machine to give random black lines on copies? They move all over the page from copy to copy and on print jobs. The self print is also doing the same thing!

    Any ideas where to look?

    Thanks

Your random lines is from dust, plain and simple, dust, may be room dust, depends on where it is, toner dust, paper dust, but the key word is "DUST" take the drum unit out, clean the sawtooth, clean the grid, and put it back together and lines normaly go away, dust on the charge makes the lines on digital, on the old analog's you would never see them.

Vincent is correct. If the screen grid is "burnt" you can use a fine sandpaper or replace the sawtooth/screengrid with the AR-310MC. HTH
      Hope that helps !

When you have done the above and you still have lines, do it all again.

Thats the beauty of Sharp digitals!

I agree with the previous posts, but had to throw in this red herring:

I know of a few occasions where the copier shared the AC power with a ceramic heater. The huge power spikes & sags that result from having the ceramic heater nearby can cause the random black lines (static).

I remember having this exact conversation several times with the same real estate person:
"You know, the copier is still making those random black lines...."
"I see you still have the ceramic heater on the same power outlet with the copier."
"When are you going to give up on that ceramic heater?
          "When its gone."

What a surprise? The problem disappeared when the heater did! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hi Guys, thanks for the help. Cleaned up the sawtooth grid thing (even though it didn't look dirty) and the machine is going great!
