    Sharp AR-M155 faint copies

Hi, would very much appreciate help please-
Fresh machine, only done 8k copies.
Suddenly gone faint copies. No obvious reasons, checked out/removed all modules etc. super clean. Changed toner with new original one - no different.
I don't know how to 'clean optics'! although I can see a mirror in the 'roof' for the laser and ran a Qtip across it - but this wouldn't have been the fault...i.e. a 'sudden' deterioration.

I gotta buy in a guessed solution, should I buy a developer unit first try that and then a drum? - strange how these should fail within 8k copies. Is there something I should try first? I notice on the bulletin board there is access to 'service mode' by...
The right sequence to enter service mode I found by trial and error is # * ca # gets you into s/mode.
Before I go back to copier on site... what is ca !!

Any other tips would be gratly appreciated -
    thanks

There just aren't that many good reasons for light copies on this model.

Most common blank copies, because the scanner has been locked down. Second choice, I'd clean up the primary and grid. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Printing out of memory will eliminate optics. Next mark the DV unit & run it to see if it's turning. Stop the page & if there is a dark image on the drum, then it's a transfer problem.
      Hope that helps !

        Thanks for tips so far.
When I print out test page from PC, it still is bad.
I can do a half page test, to see if the drum is coated but I dont think I will be able to determin whether the image is good or bad quality ... I've cleaned the grid wire ok - where is the 'primary' mentioned..?. It almost seems to me like a poor earthing connexion but I can't see any. Still looks like I will have to buy a dev unit and go from there ? Any idea where I might get one from...
        thanks guys

On this model it's a primary charge wire, and a stamped metal grid over the charge wire. It's unlikely that you've got a developing or drum grounding issue on a machine with only 8K. Can you attach a sample to your post? =^..^=

              first try the simple solutions
you have to clean mirrors and lens
maybe the charging corona not give the proper voltage so it can't attracting toner
check the toner sensor it may not give the right signal for the machine u can try darkness copy if it solve the problem the sensor has a problem

if all doesn't work try to replace the developer
              good luck
