The paper from the tray 3 and 4 get dog ears, every 3 to 4 copies. Tray 3 does not seem to occur as much. It only occurs with letter and ledger paper. Letter R and legal are fine. I have not found any bures on the guides. I gave tray 3 flap gate spring a little more tension and even tried to add a little spacer on the small clear guide right above it. It definetly occurs before the drum, I have gotten print on back side of copy. Any help would be appreciated.

The only time I've seen this problem is with the original part number for the ADU Reverse Gate. There was a problem with the paper rear edge touching a plastic moulding fault and causing random dog ear corners.
The ADU reverse gate was modified with this part number: PGIDM2148FCZ2.
This part number suits all first series MX machines from 2300 to 4500 series.
If you are sure that this problem occurs before the transfer belt and fuser, I'd also check the registration unit as I've seen labels stuck in there causing similar problems. If the problem is definitely happening only in the desk unit, then the problem is down there somewhere. Possibly a very small piece of paper wedged into a corner. -

Also, a good way of confirming where the fault is occuring, is to check if the dog ear is folded over very hard... eg, it has passed through the fuser. If it is folded over hard then the problem was before the fuser.
Also, take some good known paper to this machine and try that. Some cheap and nasty papers can curl alot more in the 4500 series as it is hotter and faster. Good paper will not curl as much as cheap stuff.Comment

Hey Tony....
You can have some sun brother.... we're having some kick-ass fires here at the moment, just north of here. Australia's biggest natural disaster ever they are saying. Damn hot.... every day. Great weekend weather though!Comment
