AR -M450 copy quality problem, pls help!

    Hi everyone,

The copy quality was getting bad, so I performed 50k and 100k maintenance, replaced drum, clean optics, and I'm still getting grey sky shot and not solid black, I changed the transfer roller but no luck, It seems that there is a lot of toner left on the drum after the paper pass thru.

The DV = 80 read out

I swapped the DV units but the quality was still poor.

    Please help.

    Thank you.

Check the registration unit, take it apart and clean. Have had similar CQ problems caused by poor earth ground. I think there is a tech bulletin regarding this.

    Good luck.

Which registration unit do you mean bill? Do you have that tech bulletin?

Did either of the developing units you installed have fresh developer? Developer is a PM part, and the next place to start. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have you ran any self prints 64-01 pattern 83? If so, please attach.

Just below the drum, Sharp now calls it the PS assembly. There are 2 screws at the front of the machine then the unit pulls right out with a connector for one sensor. When you pull it out look at the rear of the machine below the developer unit. I have found a lot of developer spill into this area. I then take apart and clean the unit. Watch out for the small spring when you take the back plate off. Sorry I can't seem to find the TB I am thinking of.

No, the registration assy comes out with two or for screws from the left door, and one connector at the rear frame. =^..^=

Sorry, I should of mentioned you access it from the left side after you open the sliding door. It's the large black roller just below the drum unit.

Is the toner at 20% or less? Replace the toner and redo all your adjustments then run off a couple hundred copies.

I put fresh toner in and run about 250 copies, same issue, still grey, when I do sky shot i'm getting lighter pattern almost like a mag roller from dv unit every couple of inches. is it ok for dv to be at 80 shouldn't it be around 125?

Check the drum earth plate. Maybe not touching the drum shaft. As for dv, check the connections inside the copier. Toners do spills some around there. I do sometimes get dv value that is incorrect. After trying inserting the dv unit a couple of times, I checked the value has changed. It is probably the connection sticking some toners. You might try also cleaning the TD sensors.

Thank you all. I cleaned all connections and the drum plate. Still the same problem. I ran a copy and the image on the drum is perfectly black, so the dv and drum are fine but it seems like there is somethong not right with transfer roller. I took it apart, cleaned adjust the pressure springs and still the same issue. I just ordered a new tranfer roller and im replacing it tomorrow. Any suggestions why is this happening, the copier has 30k on the transfer roller.

                              Thank you all.
