[CQ] Strange CQ on Sharp AR-M162 AR-M200

    Hello everyone

I was wondering if anyone has seen this CQ problem on the Sharp AR-M162 & AR-M200.
Printing to the unit produces good CQ.
Scanning originals on the platen glass or DF to the computer produces good CQ.
However when copying thru the platen glass or DF the CQ is bad.
The DV, drum, and fuser are near new with total meter at 4,717
So I'm guessing it's one of the boards but I’m not sure which one.
If I'm correct is there an adjustment I can do to correct it or is replacement the correct action to take?

    Thanks everyone

just a thought, this copier can scan in color even though it is a bw copier so that is why the scan looks good. since that is a photo basically have u checked to see if there is a photo setting to copy with rather than text setting ( i cant remember if this model has the option or not)

The unit is only able to print in black & white but it does scan in full color. I just tried copying in text mode and the CQ is still bad.

      Thanks for keying in

Wow! That's a horrible black & white copy.

You've ruled out the CCD, scanner PWB, laser, & engine imaging components. There's not much left. It's got to be a MCU problem. I think I'd start by re-seating all the connectors, especially ribbon cables. Then order the MCU. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Ok, I'll try that MCU board and see if resetting helps.

          Thanks blackcat

Dont completely rule out the CCD yet. Everyone is on the right track, but..... I have seen a CCD unit give a decent color scan/copy and a very poor B/W scan/copy before... without any errors or trouble codes.

I dont work on these small machines, so I dont know the CCD unit on these at all, but the samples given look very familiar to a problem I had on a color machine a few years ago and it turned out to be the CCD unit.

Wazza with this unit color or B&W originals only when choosing to copy the unit produces bad CQ however if they are sent to a computer under the same conditions the originals are processed with good CQ. That's why I suspect it's in board problem. What do you say?

Thanks for your input I'm grateful for it.

OK, thats abit clearer from your first post.
If color & b/w SCANS are always OK, but a b/w COPY is always bad, then the CCD unit must be OK. Go with what His Holiness/Grand Master Blackcat said.
