    ARM355/455

I have multiple customers that have been having problems with Jams in the ADFs on these machine. I have a customer that has 2 of these machines and both of them are leaving a small indention in the middle of the paper on the lead edge. Most of the time the paper will go ahead and feed with no noticable problem other than the indention on the original. Sometimes the paper will jam though. The times that I have gotten the machine to jam it usually goes in about an inch or 2 and gets stuck under the seperation plate. Sharp has released a different sep plate since originally manufacturing the machine but it doesn't seem to correct the problem as we have replaced the plates multiple times and the problem always seems to return. We have tried to bend the plate either in or out to reduce or add more pressure to the paper as it feeds but it always seems to return. Does anyone have any ideas? I am stuck on this one.
    Thanks

The load on the sep pad plate was reduced with the modified part (CPLTM5746DS52 - complete sep pad unit & plate) and has the indentifier 'H1' engraved on it.
When using the modified part, the SCN firmware must be updated to v1.04 for the EF3 scanner (originally v1.03). There is a timing fix in this version.

I'm sure wazza's information is more recent , more current.

When the AR-EF3 first came out, another tech and I compared the EF1 to the EF3. Our first experiment was to swap the top half of the SPF from the EF1 to the EF3. That worked nicely, so we figured out which parts are different. Here's the list:

        (1) PSHEZ4847FCZZ Separation Pad Only
        (1) MSPRT2864FCZZ Separation Spring
        (1) LPLTP5747FCZZ Separation Plate
        (1) MSPRP2832FCZZ Leaf Spring
        (1) PSHEP4848FCZZ Mylar
        (1) PSHEZ4878FCZZ Mylar

        =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Good info Blackcat.

The part number I listed above is the most up-to-date complete sep pad unit (plates, pads, spacers, sheets, mylars) all in one easy to fit piece. Just order that & fit with the single screw. Couldnt be easier.

Yea we were aware of the sep unit and have replaced it on most machines that have had feeding issues. I will update the firmware and pray it fixes it!!!

I would not hold your breath. That DF is crap. ALL of mine jam like crazy. At PM time i usually have 100-200 jams and a very teary eyed customer. Even the MXM450's do it. Ive put the most recent sep unit in with updated firmware. Who ever thought putting a pad instead of a roller into a 45 ppm copier should of been shot

I just regularlly change the sep pads when they call for jamming, sympathize with the customer and suggest that if their originals have a upward curl in the originals lead edge that they bend it down a bit before they feed it.

It was also a very joyus time upgrading the reg rollers in the EF1 to the new style. That upgrade needs a large desk
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

There has got to be something other than regularly changing the pads. I called Hotline and the guy said that he "Didn't have any miracles for me." WTF. I'm going to swap out the entire feeder and bring it back here to work on it.
