I have a pronlem with the copy quality on a 4501. After changing the drum, developer, thansfer belts (primary/secondary) and fuser, the copies still look very grainy after the calibration. This is a problem I've had for a few months with a few 4501's we have. any help would be great.

Does this happen with b/w only or color copies too.

Does this happen with prints also or just copies.

Run simulation 64-5 to print a b/w and a color test page from the copiers memory.

Answer these questions for more help.

Make sure the pressure tabs on your fuser are in the correct position.

Have you calibrated the toners properly? keep the side door open first, then do the sim 25. Also, there is a list of calibration procedures to follow in order, it is very inportant to follow for optimum color. Do you have the color jig to do the density sensor adj? Also try simulation 44-2 ( black image density adj). Firmware updated? It is very important to follow all calibration procedures on this mfp, otherwise, none of your black or color densities will be correct.

These machines are pretty old. You might consider cleaning the ID sensor with a Qtip gently prior to the jig adjustment (assuming you have the 'jig', grey patch for calibrating ID sensor), in case machine was in dirty environment. Also if you don't know machine history be sure to go back to Factory while performing color calibration (and do BOTH calibrations, copier and printer, run each 4 times). And of course, be sure your laser glass is clean for all 4 colors prior to calibration...
