You say you replaced the drum. Was it a drum only, or a drum unit with a primary corona unit?

This sounds like a dirty primary wire or grid. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      drum

yes it was a whole drum unit and the machine was doing the same thing with the old drum unit. could it be the charge in the door? thanks never mind the charge in the door i changed it and no results. i also changed out the drum unit again just to be sure the customer was giving me the right info (but they always do don't they?) and that didn't change anything either. i hate these little machines!

Did you check the dv drive for the toner/dv cartridge? And, is the cartridge a new one?

Yeah, these aren't my favorite machines either, but I usually keep them going.

Repost what you've found about dv drive and with the quality of the toner cartridge. Like I stated before, I refill these all the time and they can sometimes not work that well if they get tired.

Have you checked and cleaned the main and transfer charge unit? Please clean the corona wires and see if the copy has improved.....

pls remove the optical unit frame untill u reach the laser unit and disassemble it and clean it inside (polygon motor and mirrors)carefully u will get a very good copies
i did that operation in ar-150 series

Thanks guys but i have done it all new oem supplies, down to cleaning the lasor and mirrors. Still light copies on lead edge. Is it possable for dirt to get on top of the lasor glass and if so how do i get to it. I know it come out of the copier completly in some models but i can't see it if it does in this one although i'm seeing red right now! Thanks

This is a delight. You have to remove the whole scanner off the top of the machine, then the delivery path, then there it is. It takes a full hour if you know exactly where your going, to see the laser.

If you decide to clean the inside of the laser, please keep in mind that you must never contact the polygon mirror with anything. I used a very soft cotton pad, and scratched the hell out of it. Air Only! You can wipe the lenses and slit glass with a lint free cloth.

                Have fun! =^..^=
