estudio 5540c doc feeder not recognized

    Gentlemen

I am a Konica Minolta tech so I don't work on Toshibas very often. I have replaced a drum and transfer belt successfully. The customer called and said the feeder was jamming. I did the usual things cleaned the sensors cleaned feed rollers etc. Still jamming. I went to reseat the connectors on the doc feeder board. The main switch was powered off. I did not unplug the machine from wall. Reseated the connectors, document feeder would not work. I saw one of the connectors was not in all the way. I powered off machine. Corrected connection. Machine powered up. Document feeder still does work. I thought I may of damaged the board by leaving it plugged in. I sent it off to hytec and no problem was found with board. I have a service manual nothing about my problem.

Are you getting the supply voltages to the DF? It's possible that you've had a partial failure of the power supply.

Are there any error codes recorded recently for the DF?
It's also possible that there were two connectors of the the same size that you switched.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

No service codes that I've noticed. Before I started working on it. It would jam if you ran letter portrait. If you ran letter landscape or 11x17 through feeder it would feed fine. I checked the voltages I have a 5 volt and a 24 volt present. When you power up the copier a green led lights up on the document feeder board then goes out. The feeder is completely dead aside from that led. When you put a document in the feeder it scans as though you have something on the glass. I can look at those connectors to make sure I didn't switch them accidently. Maybe they are not idiot proof? By the way thanks for replying.

If you place an original in the Doc feeder, does the LED on the doc feeder light up?
If it doesn't, check the "hinge switch".
Pop the back cover off of the ADF, viewed from the rear, the left hinge assembly.

I figured it out. Since I knew the RADF board was good. I retraced my steps when I was trying to fix the jamming issue that the customers called about. On the document feeder cover there is the close cover switch and the paper in the feeder switch. I had them crossed. After that it started taking the paper and jamming again. I did some trouble shooting and found a screw had come loose on a shaft inside the feeder. The motor would rotate the gear the shaft did not move. Installed screw. Feeder now works. As a Konica Minolta tech I'm used to the feeders going through a start up sequence. You can see the rollers moving before you make a copy. On this feeder it is completely silent on startup. Even the cooling fan doesn't move until you run a paper through unit. My lack of Toshiba knowledge bit me on the butt with this one.
