    HP LJ4250n "Waiting for tray2 to lift."

    Yesterday, I saw this machine. The display alternated between "Processing Job" and "Waiting for tray2 to lift" conceivably forever. The lift motor did not run at any time, and the 24vdc was absent at the motor and at the engine PWB.

    As I was contemplating whether to order the engine PWB or the power supply, the machine went dead. I guess that machine gave me the answer I needed. There were no output voltages from the power supply.

    When re-assembled, the power supply had reset and tray2 lifted a few times before the 24vdc disappeared again. Currently, the machine is printing fine from the MP tray (tray1) which doesn't require a lift motor.

    I just thought that this was an interesting combination of symptoms, and wanted to share. =^..^=
    If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

      You are almost describing the one that whipped me. It started as a tray lift problem, I changed everything, then it would feed extra sheets into the fuser but not show a jam. I finally gave up on it. Good luck to you.

          It is not uncommon to have to replace those Lifter Motors or the DC Controller to fix that issue. If you do a quick search online or on this forum, I am sure you will find other users and techs with similar issue. Let us know if it comes back on you.
