    Hp /1320/erractic Fusing

    First print comes out good after machine at rest,but subsequent prints get gritty and start to rub off. Cartridge is not problem. I was about to order fuser unit and I figured before I did,Ill throw this on board in case Im off the mark.

      I've not seen this, but the fuser is the only logical choice. There is no adjustment for Nipp or Temperature, so you're stuck with the presets.

      They aren't trying to feed cardstock, linen, or some other heavy or textured paper, are they? These little printers just won't do it.

      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

              You say the prints start to feel gritty? I can't think of anything in the fuser that would create a gritty feeling condition.

              How is it that you ruled out the print cartridge? Did you switch to a different brand? Are you using OEM or Compatibles? The toner, even when not fused, does not create a gritty feel. Developer beads do!

              Unless your Pressure Roller is falling apart, the only things I could think of that would cause a condition like that would be foreign material in the paper path, the print cartridge or maybe a deteriorating transfer roller.

              I'm curious to know the resolution to this one.

                  HP 1320/ fusing problem

                  HI,
                  A new OEM was put in machine I was there yesterday and the problem was still there.I called cust. and told them $175 for fusing unit installed. They said they were getting new machine at that point. Should I bill them for the inspection charge?($45).What you say?

                          Just for the hell of it I want to add my 2 cents. The fuser is the problem in my eyes. copier_guy may be thinking of the grittiness of developer but the rubbing off of toner is for sure a fusing issue. I know this machine has a connection for the lamp of the fuser. I would have checked the pins on the board and made sure it was seated properly and checked voltage to the lamp. In 99% of the hp cases i've ever seen the voltage is either full or not there at all. You can do that without billing $175 or whatever for the fuser. If you get your hands on the machine it is very worth it for you to check this out on your own time, fix it, and sell it on ebay! LOL... Alot of people have the same situation and want 1320's! If not, ship it to me! If you need a service manual I'll get you that.
