I don't believe the fuser drive assembly needs to be aligned. There is one gear in there that is notched, and you have to make sure that is right, but otherwise, you just put it in. Here's a link to the gear I'm talking : HP CP3525 - 59.F0 . But this would be real obvious. If you're getting clicking and grinding, you probably put something else in wrong.

The developer drive has to be aligned. There are some gears that have to be turned, but the manual shows how and it's not uncomplicated.

Is there a picture of the fuser drive assembly that shows how it should be properly alligned before installing it back to the printer, because after doing all the suggested things in this post (take pad off, and all the tests) my grinding and clicking noise remains. The pic in the service manual is quite blurry, and i would like to try to allign that damn thing once more correctly before ordering a new one

In all fairness, GARZA didn't elaborate on what he/she uses. Only to not be lazy and replace the pad.

    I use these

Cut 'um to fit. Remove one side that sticks to the solenoid and leave the other side on.

Because if you replace it with another 'proper' pad, the problem will just come back in a couple of years.

Look, forget about removing sponge pad and not replacing it, REPLACE THE PAD... You have the printer area disassembled so why not complete the job properly. One can purchase the material that will work for this solenoid at Staples, Home Depot etc. just look for shipping and mailing items/materials.

It's not that bad of a job if you can take it to the shop. But IMO it's pretty nasty in the field. I've done it twice in the field.

Just got one of these in. Told them that error was the "dispose of me" error.

Seriously, I explained what would be involved in resolving this code. Waiting to hear back.

I've done my time on this before. If they don't REALLY love the printer, it's time to replace it.

    Because those certs mean everything.

I think we've established that the designers are nit-wits. In fact, that's what this discussion is about.

    I didn't say I've been a tech for 7 years--just that I've been bending the metal for 7 years.

I'm allowing that each tech has their own ways. What I wouldn't allow, is that your way is better. Some techs go by the book, some get it done. And some become managers.

If you bend the curved metal piece up just a little (enough to put another mm of space between the magnet and the plate) the plate will never get magnetized. Plus, you won't ever have loose pieces of tape or anything else floating through the machine. Oh well, each tech does it different. One of the techs here (it's in another thread) uses a piece of inner-tube. I can't remember who. I prefer to use nothing. I haven't been called back on a single one since I started doing it this way (7 years ago).

IMO, by the time a machine is old enough for those sponges to be a problem, it's old enough to make a little noise. I don't use any padding. I've never heard a complaint about solenoid noise.

These pads are known to cause frequent Jams as well in the Duplex units , MP trays and Regular trays. You might get a pass of an additional sheet , Typically blank because there was no job when the page was fed because the Hook did not grab the Cam Stop..
All the manufactures have these solinoid issues. Some have found a longer lasting material.
Paper is not enough to stop clicking. We replace the sponge with a nice velvet material. Works beautifully. Lasts forever.

I'm going to a service call right now. I'm 100% sure that it's the solenoid. IDK WTH these techs were talking about the ITB. Its always that damn stupid solenoid.

At least on the older machines like the 4200 series, they were easy to get to. BUT THIS MOTHER is DEEP inside the machine.

I too wish that I, and every contractor and tech in my company could just have 5 minutes alone... with that engineer who said "HEY! Lets put a sponge in there"... 5 minutes.. just 5 minutes...
