I have a pair of these at the same customer with the same problem. The prints are light over the entire page, image is also light on the drum. The customer tells me they had this problem about a month ago also, and replaced the drum units which solved the problem for a short while but then it went back to light prints. I assume this is a toner supply issue, but I have trouble believing it would happen on two machines in the same office. What else could be happening?

2) compatible drums/toner
3) transfer roller defective
what have you done to fix?
what are the page counts?
any error displayed?
do you have the manuals? -
Re: Lexmark W850 light prints
2. They're using genuine toner & drums.
3. The image is light on the drum, so it's not transfer.
There aren't any codes, the meter can't be read because the menus are locked out by a password that the customer doesn't remember, and the manuals are completely unhelpful.
Like I said, it's clearly a toner supply issue, since replacing developer solved it for a week or so before it started to degrade again, but I don't understand both machines having the same problem.Comment

Re: Lexmark W850 light prints
1. Replacing the drum unit (including developer) temporarily solved the problem, so it's not that.

Re: Lexmark W850 light prints
Diag Mode allows you to check Bias readings etc.. I THINK you can print config/test pages also..
so not totally off topic..
and yes.. not on THIS model (for me) but similar models the HVPS and wires going to trans roller suck shit.
the Dell model (B6470?) of the Lex was KNOWN for the HVPS and harness failing.
if you don't have the manual .. PM me I do have it. ( besides tons more )Comment
