Dinosaur is asking for a solution to scan to Apple.......
Dinosaur is asking for a solution to scan to Apple.......
Before we tell the customer to bring his very good working BH-C-360 with only little on its clock to the junkyard, anyone has a solution to let it scan to Apple PC's with the latest Apple operating system? Any workaround?

If they really won't upgrade a simple work around is tell them to get a NAS drive or even an old Windows PC (gasp) & use that as a file server, either works a treat.

set up scan to email
That's exactly the problem. They were doing that since long, but their provider changed the security level and this old machine is not able of that anymore.

Well you could get a email provider who does not have this yet, forward all emails to this provider and cross all fingers on your hand that the provider does not change it either.

Scan using Ftp may work but it's a maybe
Yes this seems they only way if you don't want to put a NAS drive but you must install a FTP server tool since there is no onboard FTP server in MacOS since many years.
I wouldnt bother with set up scan to mail since this MFP generation doesn't meet the security requirements for most mail services anymore and the few services that might
work will probably close their support for any workaounds too during this or next year.

My IT guy has had to use an old PC a few times as file server with older models and Apple. Think he has also used a separate drive once on a Biz C220. Probably a NAS drive as posted.

I will talk them into an upgrade. For the moment I plan to o ffer them a BH-C-284e with only 60K on the clock. If they start asking about the age of the machine, perhaps a BH-C-258.
Re: Dinosaur is asking for a solution to scan to Apple.......
well fuck'em then
time to upgrade to a machine from this century or accept the alternate scanning methods. its not your fault the technology of today has surpassed the capabilities of that poor stegosaurus.
sorry, i just never let customers hold me hostage to things out of my control like security standards or OS upgrades when no driver had been certified for use.
thats some bullshit, i try to be as creative as possible with solutions but there is a line between what you want and what is possible and you will not hold me hostage because they are too lazy to use any of the alternate suggestions.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
The medication helps though...
